Re: ISU out of the running for Bernstine

I said on another post that Bernstine's coach stated that he will go to the University of Iowa, because his mother wants him to stay close to home.

If any Iowa kid has to go to the University of Iowa then by all means go there and I am one Clone Fan who will wish you well. If they dont want to be at Iowa State I dont want them here, these kids need to go where they want to go, Good Luck and God Bless'em

The problem with ISU recruiting is that not many kids WANT to come here...

Since day one ive thought he was and is gonna be a "camp stud". I dont see him being all that when having to play against the big bys.

I think you're right koo. When you start out with three to five big time impact recruits a year, it sure doesnt help when most of those said recruits want to go the Univ of Iowa.

If I were the football coach at ISU, I would concentrate on Texas Florida and the South where there are a lot more D-1 prospects.

It will be very interesting to see where the majority of recruits that Gene Chizik brings in come from.

I'd put my money on the states of Texas and Florida.

I think you forget where some of ISU's best players have came from. Blythe, Meyer, Moorehead, Moser, Rosenfels, all from the state of Iowa. While we have to get recruits from other states, getting our own guys from this state is very important. Look at how many players went to Iowa from Iowa that are now in the NFL

I think he could have been the greatest player ever if he committed to Iowa State. But since he didn't, I don't think he'll pan out and I'm glad he isn't coming.

Re: ISU out of the running for Bernstine

We never had a prayer for this kid of ever playing here, in spite of "MoM" wanting him close to home. UCLA, A&M, Pitt are not close to home. I got beleive he is going out of state and a "Long ways" from MOM................did Chizik get a second chance at this kid?.........no, it is to close to MOM.........time to move pass Bernstine....yea he is an in state product and we had to make a pass at him but this kid is "legend in his own mind" already.

You're never going to out-recruit the big dogs in their own turf (Texas, Alabama, Florida, etc), so you really must win the recruiting battles in your own state. If we can't out-recruit Iowa in Iowa year in and year out, we are going to have a very tough time of it.

You don't have to outrecruit the likes of Texas and Florida, you just take the leftovers, which happen to be pretty damn good football players. Look how many players we've gotten out of the community of Garland Texas, and now we've got a guy with Texas connections.

Re: ISU out of the running for Bernstine

My first post here guys! To be honest with you who has Jordan Bernstein played against? With somebody of the caliber of our new coach, Chizik, I think we can make up for that loss! Nothing against the Des Moines area teams but as compared to the national level how do they stack up? In other words I think the loss of Bernstein can be replaced. Please don't get me wrong, ISU needs to recruit the best in state players, and they will start getting them with all the things happening in our program. Probably a little to late with Jordan Bernstein. Don't worry Coach Chizik will come thru with a little time. I bet those guys over in Iowa City are planning a whole new strategy for in state recruiting! They will definetely get a lot more competition from there future big brother from the west!

Rivals site listed several other Bernstine replacements: Rocket Jackson of Beloit, Jason Smiles of Red Rock; Shoes Hoffman of Chicago; Ja Ja Hampton of Birmingham; and Sprite Williams of Boogaloo. Yesd, you can replace him. he is only the fourth rated safety in the nation. He probably wil go to UCLA.
