Should ISU have kept Berryman this season?

I wonder what the season might have been like with Berryman on the roster. He was one of the most dominating linemen in the Big 12. Should ISU have kept him? From what I heard, he was in a bar two weeks before his 21st birthday minding his own business. Can we stay to these standards and be competive?

He had a no tolerance policy and that was made very clear to him.

He fouled up and paid the consequences. As did his team.

Re: Should ISU have kept Berryman this season?

I wonder how schools like Texas, Nebraska, Iowa and others would have handled it. It may have simply been ignored.

How can 200+ days in jail be ignored?

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

We would have had an improved D that's a given.

Like ISUFan22 said...zero tolerance. He knew the rules and chose to disobey them....for the third time.

He may have single handedly saved Mac's job. He was that good.

Re: Should ISU have kept Berryman this season?

We needed Berryman, that said, Moorehead had more sacks this year than Berryman did last year, and most of his sacks came in the TCU game. Hopefully Parker or Taylor can become that aggressive rush end.

Re: Should ISU have kept Berryman this season?

Not to take anything away from Moorehead, but teams payed a lot more attention to Berryman and would double team him more two years ago than Moorehead last year. This sure helps open things up for your other rush linemen.

Lets not give Berryman that much credit. He can't pass block, run the ball, throw it or catch it.

Nor could he cover wide receivers.

This thread has gone from confusing to amusing.

Re: Should ISU have kept Berryman this season?

Yes Berryman was found in a bar underage. But according to a buddy of mine and a close friend of JB's, he also failed a drug test the week before and the bar incident was used mainly as a cover-up to save face. Just from what I know.

Re: Should ISU have kept Berryman this season?

I think Berryman being dismissed had more to do with the change at Athletic Director. I believe that Berryman would not have been given the second chance if Pollard was in place at that time, IMO.

My buddy is good friends with him and still talks with him weekly or so, plus I've heard it from 2 different people, both members of the football team... so I guess I'm pretty confident

I heard that as well, but I had no way to confirm or deney.

I sort of wondered why he didn't play elsewhere...
