Shawn Raney, one of two secondary coaches

Just hired Shawn Raney from UAB as one of the secondary coaches, he has connections to the Kansas JUCO ranks, as well as Oklahoma State, Oklahoma High School ranks and is from Oklahoma!

Looks like Shawn Raney will be our new defensive backs coach. Looks to be a tag along of Bolt's

    Here's the article on him.

Where do you get that there will be multiple secondary coaches?

Re: Shawn Raney, one of two secondary coaches

"Chizik’s Cyclone coaching staff now includes Raney, offensive coordinator Robert McFarland, defensive coordinator Wayne Bolt and defensive line coach Mike Pelton and wide receivers coach Jay Rodgers. Barney Farrar has been hired to work in football operations."

i thought this would be good to cut out, and post so every1 know who is on the staff if they cant get the link to work

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Re: Shawn Raney, one of two secondary coaches

first of all ready the article, look for some wording that says, Raney will be a secondary coach, not the secondary coach, secondly I believe this has been reported by Chris Williams that we will have two defensive back coaches, or someone can't remember where I heard it.

Re: Shawn Raney, one of two secondary coaches

I might be wrong, but I swear I read this somewhere last week that we were gonna go with two secondary coaches. Wouldn't surprise me since Raney only coaches cornerbacks over at UAB! This would make me think that we will hire a safeties coach, a quarterbacks coach, a running backs coach and a Special Teams coach and we will be done!!! That would also mean Bolt is linebacker coach

Cool Re: Shawn Raney, one of two secondary coaches

Still no mention of a QB coach. Makes me wonder if he's still looking or just keeping his choice under wraps.

Re: Shawn Raney, one of two secondary coaches

With the way our secondary played last season, we may need three secondary coaches; and, we may need more than one offensive line coach!

Re: Shawn Raney, one of two secondary coaches

This doesn't really have to do with secondary coaches, but....

I know Applewhite said something about not being in contact with Iowa State, but maybe Chizik is going let Applewhite coach Rice in their bowl game then announce him as the QB coach at ISU. No inside info; just hopeful thinking.

Re: Shawn Raney, one of two secondary coaches

Chizik seems to be hiring people who are either friends or friends of friends. Anyone know why Bolt was dismissed a year ago??? The register talked about him having surgery beings he was out of work. Pelton seems like a good hire and maybe Mc Farland but don't know if I am overly impressed with the other hires???

Yeah I'm with you and I think that's what I was kind of alluding to. You would think there would be at least some kind of talk about potential QB coaches but there hasn't been any. Makes me wonder if Applewhite is in the bag and just waiting for their bowl game to conclude before announcing it.
