    Gaming PC for Christmas present

We're looking for a PC and flat screen monitor for under $1000 that the kids could use for their PC games. They play a lot of Rollercoaster Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon, and Civ type games that require a lot of memory, disk and processor.

I see that Sam's has a Dell for just under $1000 (with monitor):

    Sam's Club - Dell Studio Desktop 2.53GHz, 640GB HD, 22" LCD

Does anyone come across any other deals like this?

You'll be fine with everything with this PC besides the video card. If it was me and I was playing games, I would want a big/better video card.

I should have said that that video card will be fine for any of the games you have listed. You may problems playing future games but you could always add a video card at another time.

Have you looked at the Dell 530 on the dell web site. It looks like you may be able to get as good or better deal by going directly through Dell.

Thanks! Does anyone know if there are there any other brands that match up with function and price?

hp is pretty comparable. I've had a desktop of theirs for nearly a year and a laptop for over 6 months and have had zero problems with both.

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

Re: Gaming PC for Christmas present

I had the guys at Dymin build my desktop to spec and then bought my monitor online from TigerDirect.

Dymin is just north of I-80, take Merle Hay exit. I could not be happier, especially with what you get for the price.

You still don't need Vista, XP is great, and 24" in monitor is just goodness.

Tell them your price range, that you already have a monitor, and what they can get built for you. It is worth checking out, and their service is fantastic also.
