    Speaking of the Bears...

The combined records of the teams they've played so far is...

    71-85

The combined records of the teams left on their schedule...

    15-36

The only teams they've faces with current winning records are...

    Seattle - W (no Alexander)
    NY Giants - W
    NY Jets - W
    New England - L

Boy, I'd sure hope they'd have one of the best records in the NFL with that schedule!

The Bears are a good football team - don't get me wrong. That defense is just nasty.

However, I don't think many look at the road the Bears have traveled when discussing how good they are.

    Re: Speaking of the Bears...

You're right...that's why they were predicted to finish well this year.

I believe I heard pre-season that they had the easiest schedule in the NFL.

But they are beating the teams on their schedule and that's all you can ask...and I definitely see why people aren't ready to predict a super bowl bid.

With Rexy on, they are/will be one tough team to beat. However with him off, they are a very good defense with a below average offense.

    Re: Speaking of the Bears...

Now, now ISUFan22, you don't get to choose your schedule, you play who you are assigned. That actually sounds like a few posts I read concerning ISU's schedule the past few years saying we had easy schedules but we still couldn't win it. Anyway, back to topic at hand, if your team Dallas played a tougher schedule, well I'm sorry for them , but let's not put down the Bears because the league office gave them an easier schedule. Remember, with Rex as the QB, the Bears needed the easier schedule just to be competitive.

    Re: Speaking of the Bears...

I'm well aware you can only play who's on your schedule. Dallas hasn't had it that bad - this is nothing about the Cowboys.

I was just looking at some stats and then saw a short list of the teams the Bears have faced. Looked at the full list and was honestly shocked.

You have to consider a team's schedule when you look at how good they are.

They play in the NFC North...there are 6 wins right there. Enough said.

If I subtract the records of the teams from the North that Chicago has played from the 71-85 record I noted in the original post...the Bears have faced teams with a blistering combined record of 52-52.

    Re: Speaking of the Bears...

Fortunately for the Bears, the NFL has a playoff system, unlike college football. They don't have to win any popularity contests or SOS rankings.

The Bears have always been my NFC team, but I agree that they may be in trouble come playoff time. Rex needs to understand that he doesn't need to sling the ball all over the place to win games. Just don't lose games for his team, keep the ball on offense.

    Re: Speaking of the Bears...

I love how people keep ripping the Bears for having a terrible offense the last several weeks. They say there's no way they win in the playoffs with their offense. I on the other hand think that this is why they're such a dangerous team. They've been winning despite putting up under 100 yards passing in games...that's not supposed to happen!

    Re: Speaking of the Bears...

I do understand what your talking about, but at the beginning of the season those games looked very tough. Seattle was the Super Bowl runner up. NY Giants were suppposed to be a playoff team with Eli, NY Jets had playoff talk with Pennington back and when isn't New England ever in playoff talk.

And it almost never happens in the play-offs. The competition gets tougher and the margin for error shrinks.

That's why if the Bears want to make a run in the post-season, Grossman must play within the system and not try to be the star.

I love the guy's confidence, even after horrible games he knows he can do what it takes to win. He just needs to be smarter.

    Dangerous to themselves, IMO.

But they haven't played anyone good which goes back to 22's point about the schedule.

Early in the season, I was ready to crown the Bears. Now with Grossman's inconsistant play, the will lose to good or average teams. (See Miami, New England, and if the defense doesn't single-handedly win the Arizona game)

Yeah, it's unfortunate for the Bears' overall appearance that the Arizona game took place on national t.v. I still hear everyone bring up that game every single time they talk about Chicago. I'm not saying they're going to the Super Bowl with Grossman as QB but it's a joke when people discount them because they aren't the current "media darling" like New Orleans or Dallas. I hope they play both those teams in the playoffs (and also hope Grossman doesn't turn the ball over 6 times).

    Re: Speaking of the Bears...

Dallas just got there collective ***** handed to them in their own house. By NO. I don't care how good NO is, they are still NO. The Bear's only problem happens to be their QB. Unfortunately that is a very big problem to have. Rex is the reason the Bears have 2 losses. They could easily be 12-0 and no matter the schedule that is pretty damn tough to do, even sitting at 10-2, in the NFL. If they get the QB situation resolved at least adequately the Bears will be tough to stop in the play-offs. Big IF.

In Des Moines, almost every game is on TV (all but 2 or 3 of them anyway). I know that's not national TV but I've seen everyone of those televised games. I'm glad the entire nation got to see that Arizona game because they have played 4 "Arizona" games this season: Arizona, Miami, New England, and Minnesota. They lost the Miami and NE game, the defense won the Arizona game, and the defense combined with a horrible, horrible Minnesota offense won the Vikings game.

4 bad games out of 11 isn't a fluke. All of this is coming from a big time Bears fan. If it was just the Arizona game, I'd call it a fluke...but 4 times?!
