Super Bowl: San Diego vs. New Orleans?

After my Cowboys were completely dismantled by the Saints, I began to wonder...

San Diego vs. New Orleans in the Super Bowl?

It's entirely possible with the Colts headed downward right now. The Ravens are still a very good team and I never count out New England. If the Bengals can continue playing well, you have to be wary of them too. But it's clear the Chargers are far and above the cream of the crop.

Then, in the NFC, Grossman has played just awful lately, finding ways to get his team beat. Seattle is just a shell of its former self. Dallas looked lost last night. The Saints however, are on a roll - winning 3 straight.

Can two teams not from big market cities create big hype for the Super Bowl? You betcha...

    - New Orleans - need I say more?
    - Brees faces his old team that tossed him out on the curb.
    - Can anyone stop L.T. from winning his first Super Bowl?
    - Rivers in his first year as a starter lands in the big game.
    - Bush as a rookie sets sights on a NFL title.
    - Can Marty finally win the big one?
    - Sean takes the NFL by storm in his first head coaching gig.
    - Over/under set at 80 points - take the over!!!

Should Dallas continue to look lost, I'm rooting for this match-up. I said early in the season if there was a team out of the NFC that I wanted to see win it all other than Dallas, it would be the Saints.

Little did I know that it could be a reality.

You may be right. I hope not because I'm a Bears fan...

The thing is that in the NFL you can get beat by any team any week. The Saints have been rolling but I still wouldn't want to play Dallas in the playoffs...

As for Grossman, I really expect him to play well tonight. He will be in a Dome against a poor defense so there can be no excuses. If he does poorly, I would guess that he gets replaced.

Re: Super Bowl: San Diego vs. New Orleans?

While your match up is very feasible, I'm holding out hope that the Monsters of The Midway will figure out a way not to lose and will make it to the Super Bowl. Perhaps if Lovie benches Grossman and allows Urlacher to be the QB? Brian would probably do a better job than Rex has been doing of late.
In all seriousness, NO vs SD is a very likely scenario.

Defense does win championships and the Bears obviously have a helluva defense.

Rex just needs to drive the bus right now, instead of trying to pilot an F-16.

If he can learn that concept, you'd have to favor the Bears in the NFC.

Re: Super Bowl: San Diego vs. New Orleans?

Speaking of Defenses...Baltimore looks very good as well. I wouldn't want to see them in the playoffs.

The thing that worries me about the Bears is the recent injuries. If the Bears can clitch the #1 seed in the next 2 weeks, I would expect a lot of rest for some of the starters for the remaining 2 weeks.

Re: Super Bowl: San Diego vs. New Orleans?

N.O. and S.D. are both super talented and both rolling right now, so I would say yes to them as a possible Super Bowl matchup. BUT, don't forget about Jacksonville because those fellas can ball too. Look out for them in the playoffs. I love them because Jones-Drew is my fantasy football studhorse this year :)

first of all, the jets are horrible, and i have no clue how they have a playoff chance.....secondly, i agree: Chargers vs. Saints! and it'll be a high scoring super bowl with great ratings

Re: Super Bowl: San Diego vs. New Orleans?

I like the arguments.....I still think the Ravens are coming out of the AFC. LT is a complete stud and I think after yesterday's breaking of the record, he might have the mind frame to break the record and win the Super Bowl, so they'll be tough, but I think Baltimore's run and pass defense is too good. I agree with the New Orleans....

Maybe it's just me but I don't really see any team coming out of the NFC to have a chance against ANY team coming out of the AFC.

Re: Super Bowl: San Diego vs. New Orleans?

I would absolutely LOVE that superbowl matchup. At this point I don't think it could get more exciting than that. Drew has been AMAZING for New Orleans and Bush is starting to electrify the NFL... as for San Diego... does it get any better than LT?

Man I'd give anything to see that matchup in the biggest game of the year.

The Saints would struggle against the bears. The bears are physical and have a ton of speed at the LB position. They would eat Reggie Bush up.

Re: Super Bowl: San Diego vs. New Orleans?

LdT and MJD for a presidential run! I'd vote for that ticket.

The Saints D looked good last night, but are a little spoty on the season. The Ravens keep getting hurt or they could be a monster D instead of a very good one, losing their pro-bowl KR hurts too.

If the Bears can shut down Bulger tonight, I'd pick them as the favorite, followed closely by the Saints (they're not as good as they played last night) and Dallas (they're not as bad as they played last night). The Giants should be taken behind the barn and put out of thier misery.

The bears have to score at some point to win. Rex only looks like a nfl player against the Packers and Lions. The bears will lose in the playoffs at some point because of him.

Check out how many recievers Brees hit last night .. spreadin the love better than anyone

And Grossman would single-handedly score 21 points.....

    For the Saints.
