They always talk about coaches on the hot seat

I am starting to think Mr. Pollard should be on the hot seat as well. The job of an athletic director is to make sure we win. Not to raise money to build stuff. So far Jamie has only shown that he can get things built. That really is all he has done. Raise money and build stuff.
My point is if he keeps building and we keep losing we are going to have a bunch of really cool empty buildings.
I really can't justify buying season tickets in this economy if we just throw crap out there and hope.
We need to win. I have never been more embarrassed to be a Cyclone fan. Ever.

Come on now, what about Nebraska dropping 70 on us two years in a row, or the Hampton loss, or losing to iowa 57-3 at home, or the Walden years. You are stretching quite a bit.

Yeah but at least then we could buy tickets for a reasonable price. Now to go to a football game up there it's very expensive.
Also if you look at Waldens records we were not horrible. We just were not that good. We had some 6 win teams.
Also the Hampton loss was bad but we were a 2 seed so it was a good fun season.

Re: They always talk about coaches on the hot seat

I don't know about hot seat but at some point if the FB and BB programs don't start doing something Pollard is ultimately going to be held accountable because those were his hires. Then again look at Christy Johnson and Cael with their programs that were Pollard hires and those 2 have had a lot of success in a short time. It's definitely something that is going to rear it's ugly head soon if the 2 biggest programs don't start showing signs of becoming winners again. I tend to give the BB program a little more slack because of the mess Mac took over and I honestly have seen progress in this year's team so far now that he finally has some stability. Landing Colvin was a big signing and I can't see a change coming after this season, especially if we have any shot at landing Harrison Barnes. That signing alone would net Mac some job security.

For FB, some of you hear seem to be really patient whereas I am not quite as patient after the disasterous season we had. I am going to have serious doubts about the Chizik hire if we don't manage to win at least 4 or 5 games next season because I just don't see how a bowl bid the following 2 years after that is going to happen with OU, TU, and TT back on the schedule and the deep hole we have dug so far in where we stand with the FB program. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt at the moment but I was extremely disappointed that we took a step back not forward this year. For a guy that coached some good defenses you'd think we'd be a little stronger in that area right now.

Re: They always talk about coaches on the hot seat

I'm going to agree with some of the heat needs to be directed at Jamie. He's the AD, He's the boss, He made the hires, He fired Successful coaches.

However, he has done some good things and an AD's job is more then just hiring coaches. However, the rest of his job is going to become very very difficult if the coaches he brought in don't start putting competitve teams on the court.

Good grief, we lose to Drake and all the sudden we have IDIOTS starting stupid threads and coming up with new derogatory names for our players and coaches. Passion about ISU sports is one thing, going bat **** crazy off the deep end like I have read since last nights loss make me want to puke.

Re: They always talk about coaches on the hot seat

Really, so we shouldn't upgrade the facilities and still expect talent to flock to ISU. Oh and nothing should cost more then it did 20 years ago? If I can make it through the early McCarney years then I think I can manage the next few seasons under Chizik. That and I will always be a proud ISU fan regardless of their record. If that makes me a delusional kool-aid drinking fan then so be it.

football programs take much longer to turn around the Bball programs. Oh..and go ahead and call/thank Mac for that 'hole; dug for the program. I hope you bring a more rational voice to you DM Juice blogs.

I dont understand how you can be more patient for a team that requires just a handfull of players, that are often able to compete in their first or second year then you can for a sport that requires 30+ players that require a great deal of development before they should even see the field. It will always take a while to turn around a football program...
