    Trademark of season thus far

I just had my heart broken, again.

Can't help but see a trademark going this season. If we lose more games this year, I don't want it to be by blowing leads.

Well, Cyclones, lets rebound. Go Cyclones!

It's sad, but the last couple years there is always that one game (football or basketball) that pushes me over the edge and I have to make a conscious decision to not care about the rest of the season as much.

I find if I lower my expectations and laugh at our awfullness, I live a happier life.

Re: Trademark of season thus far

Um, I think our trademark is going to be losing come Big 12 season. We can't rebound and we can't get the ball into our best player. I said to start this season that 16+ wins and 2-1 in state was a good season, this is easily going to be a bad season with the "-1" that I was thinking coming to a mediocre (but better than us) Iowa team.

Also, people talk patience here and I really believe in Mac but after this lose, what makes us better than Drake next year @Drake? We aren't adding a big rebounder or anything, just more of the same 3-pointers and lack-luster inside shooting.

Man, I am about as die-hard ISU as you can get but we just insist on inventing ways to lose. Winning by 10 in the second half against Drake at home? Come on...

Sadly, I don't think we'll have a chance to blow any leads in conference...except maybe against CU in Ames.

I think this is a very solid reasoning and very possible to obtain this season. We aren't a national championship caliber team (but from some of the posts it seems some of our fans think we are) and to expect to win every game against inferior opponents is very unreasonable. This is Basketball, upsets happen all the time.

And I do not consider Drake to be an upset. The only reason we were favored was because this game was at home.

Re: Trademark of season thus far

This game was one of the worst games I have watched. The defense tonight was dismal. Do they know on offense they can drive in to the middle of the lane to create plays or get fouled? We lived on the 3 in the first half and died by it in the second. Also under no circumstances should a team lose when you have a player making 8 threes (way to go Lucca!!). Very poor coaching at the end of the game. First of all why not call time out to draw up something but instead we have Peterson taking 2 three's?? one out of desperation with 6 seconds to go. Then better yet, we have our leading scorer and 3 pt shooter throwing the ball inbounds with 1 second left! Are you serious???!! This constant substituting is rediculous. We don't have 10 D1 caliber players on our team. We maybe have 7. So just play the seven. I'm sick of watching the team go on a run and then 3 of the players in that rotation coming out to be replaced by players who can't play at the same level. Until the day comes when we don't have D3 caliber players starting, we aren't going too far. This team just needs to be smarter on the court with passes and just overall decisions.

On another note, we can kiss the chances of HB goodbye if these performances keep occuring. Overall I think that ISU is a big forward and point guard away from having a good team, so with Colvin and Gilstrap next year I hope to see some good things.

I'm wondering at what point we should expect the postseason with this team. I like the future of this team and where we're going but if we don't get to any postseason next year I will have officially given up on the coaching staff.

If we had something to cheer about - Football or Basketball, it would be different...but when your two main sports are down at the same time? this sux

From another post, I say optimistically in 2 years.

Unless you bring in Mayo and Beasley type talents, freshman rarely turn a program around.

That realistically (and optimistically) means 2 years which would be year 5 for Mac, assuming the talent he is bringing in this year pans out.

If we don't make it next year I'll enjoy being at games two years from now with 2k of my closest friends. Honestly I expected to lose this game and some others this nonconference schedule, but there are so many things going on that I consider flat coaching mistakes that it troubles me.
