    Big 12 vs. Big 10-11

Okay big office discussion before lunch:

Big 12 (crappy defense or great offense)

Big 10 (crappy offense or great defense)

The discussion came up when someone threw out there that Northwestern was going to kill Missou....

i laughed out loud for 30 seconds......

So, i threw out there, with the type of players the big 12 recruits for defense, how are teams like Texas(50), Oklahoma (65), Nebraska (66), Oklahoma St (86), Kansas (94), Missouri (99), ISU (111), Texas A&M (113) & Kansas St. (117) in total defense?

Is it the offenses have passed the defenses by, or is it that we have 4 of the finalists for the heisman trophy winner because we're truly the top offensive conference?

Lastly, what will win out, usually they say, good-great defense will beat the good-great offense, how do you see it this year?

Direct matchups of Big 12 vs Big 10:
    Missouri vs. Northwestern
    Texas vs. Ohio St.
    Kansas vs. Minnesota (per cc4td28)

OU has a pretty good defense

Re: Big 12 vs. Big 10-11

I guess we will find out which is right. The matchups are pretty equal to where the team finished in the conference too, as is planned I guess.

    (5th) Missouri vs. Northwestern (4th)
(2nd) Texas vs. Ohio St. (2nd)
    (7th)Kansas vs. Minnesota (7th)

Step 1: Cut a hole in the box.

I hope Texas kills OSU. I can't stand them and I think Texas will be out to prove a point

I think they have something like the 18th rated defense in the nation

I think Texas is going to treat OSU much like Georgia treated Hawaii last year...

Re: Big 12 vs. Big 10-11

Big 10 fans think they play great defense because Big 10 games have scores of 6-3 and 10-7.

But what happens when their so-called "great" defenses play good offenses from other conferences?

    We already saw these 3:

USC (Pac 10 #1) vs. Ohio State (Big 10 #2), 35 points, 348 yards, easy win for USC.

Cal (Pac 10 #4) vs. Michigan State (Big 10 #3), 38 points, 467 yards, easy win for Cal.

Missouri (Big 12 #5) vs. Illinois (Big 10 #7), 52 points, 549 yards, easy win for Missouri.

If you still think the Big 10 plays great defense, just wait and see what happens in these bowls:

USC (Pac 10#1) vs. Penn State (Big 10 #1)
Texas (Big 12 #2) vs. Ohio State (Big 10 #2)
    Missouri (Big 12 #5) vs. Northwestern (Big 10 #4)
    Kansas (Big 12 #7) vs. Minnesota (Big 10 #7)

I would bet that these "great" Big 10 defenses will give up an average of more than 35 points and 350 yards in their bowl games. And also lose them all.

    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

The Big XII is favored in all their bowl games except Nebraska being a 'dog to Clemson. I guess we'll see how it plays out.

Dean Wormer was wrong. Fat, drunk and stupid was a great way to go through college (all five years of it).

I guess the oddsmakers don't know that Big XII teams don't play defense.

I tend to think the other way I don't see anyway NW can hang with the athletes Mizzou has on offense and I think MU wins by 20+

I agree. Mizzou hasn't looked great the last few weeks but they've been playing some of the best teams in the nation. Northwestern will be the worst team they've played since....well, we all know when. And they will be the best offense Northwestern has seen all year. I expect Mizzou to win with a score of something like 45-20.
