I think it's a rule that the winner of the BCS Championship has to be the Champion.

IIRC, the NCAA doesn't officially recognize a champion in college football.

I am pretty sure that the AP could vote Texas their champion if they saw fit. But I imagine if oklahoma beats florida that won't be the case

Correct the AP can vote however they want and aren't bound by BCS. I believe this happened once in the past with a BCS national champion and an AP "co-national champion"????

A National Champion in D1 college football is as real as the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus.

    Re: National Title

Should have been OU vs Texas. I will never understand how we can have four 1-loss teams in the top 4, with OU's only loss to a top4 team, Alabama's only loss to a top4 team, Texas' only loss to a top6 team, and Florida's only loss to a unrated team, but still have Florida in the title game.

And Florida lost at home, no less. That should have eliminated them.

    Re: National Title

If Texas would have been ahead of Oklahoma or Florida in the AP, there would be a case for a "split national champion".

Since all Texas can do is beat the pants of of Ohio State (who nobody thinks is all that good this year), the winner of the Florida/Oklahoma game will almost assuredly be #1 in the AP.

The winner of the BCS championship is automatically the BCS National Champion.

So it's highly likely that the winner of the BCS championship will be the "undisputed" champion.

That being said, there really is no national champion in D1A.

I think, right now, it's between Oklahoma, Florida and USC for the best 3 teams in the nation right now.

Over the course of the season, they all have their issues.

I'm sorry, if Texas beats Texas Tech, they are in. If USC doesn't lose at Oregon State, they are in. If Penn State didn't blow it at Iowa, they are in.

It's all a case-in-point for how awesome the college football regular season is.

What if all three of those things had happened?
