    LE's 2nd team off to 7-0 start

Southern Miss has played well putting away a very weak schedule to this point. The Golden Eagles are off until after finals when their schedule gets a lot tougher vs Alabama late next week.

After a rough year last season it is good to see Larry doing well.

I also have been following his team. He has a lot of his own players now. They haven't played any road games yet and the schedule so far has been very soft. We'll see how they hold up to Bama and Memphis later in the season.

This is Larry's third year at Southern Miss. He ran off his entire first recruiting class or they quit as did 2 assistants. He should do pretty well in CUSA now that Louisville, Cincy, and Depaul have left for the Big East. The only real power is Memphis, and they are struggling.

    Sorry... 3rd team.

And for what its worth there should be geographic restrictions for conferences. Louisville, Cincy, and Depaul in the Big East makes no sense. Next thing you know some team west of the Mississippi is going to join the ACC.

Re: LE's 2nd team off to 7-0 start

I took a gander at their media guide, lots of good stuff about ISU BB in relation to Eustachy. I am not a big LE fan, I think most of his success was because of Tim Floyd but it is good to see good things about the Cyclones reputation in another part of the country. I planned on trying to go to one of their games last year...didn't make it. If they play Memphis at home that may be a good one.

    Floyd - LE??

I have heard many people say that LE's success at ISU was due to Floyd? I agree in part because Floyd brought in Fizer. But LE brought in (arguably) the most important player in that two year run in Tinsley! Both were outstanding players but JT was the key to that era's success! LE developed JT's game...made him tough...and we all enjoyed! Heck...LE developed Fizer into what he became! LE should be given his due!

I will say that I am a big LE fan...so sure...I am biased! But I just really enjoyed LE when he was at ISU!

Talk about a very weak schedule....
    Belhaven
    Tennessee-Martin
    Alabama State
    Spring Hill
    Sam Houston State
    Savannah State
    So New Orleans

I always knew LE liked his early season cupcakes...but I haven't even heard of half of these schools....So New Orleans...I thought the only thing south of NO was the gulf of mexico....

    Couldn't agree more.

My favorite LE player has always and will always be the 6' power forward Kantrel Horton. He was a class person and got it done for a guy his size. Floyd is a great coach, but LE was the reason we had a team compete for a National Title.

I am a big LE fan as well. It is only a matter of time before LE wins Conference USA, and some BCS school comes calling.

I miss his dry sense of humor. I'm still stunned by the power of the media to vilify a person.

Re: LE's 2nd team off to 7-0 start

Found one more thing about LE's schedule....from the Sagarin ratings....

    85 Southern Miss = 78.53 4 0 62.72( 333)

Its a few days old, so they don't have his latest big wins....but there it is, the 333rd ranked schedule in the country....btw there are only 336 teams ranked...so he's still got some room for improvement

The schedule is weak, very weak. But they are listed higer on Sagarin than us.

Yet, we all have to wish Eddie Sutton well for actually breaking the law.

    Stop...I Am Getting Sentimental!

I just had so much fun following LE's team. And I too believe LE paid a much higher price than some others in college athletics! Barnett, Huggins, Sutton...etc!

I know LE had some lapses in judgment but he hurt no one other than his family. That had to be painful enough. Luckily I have not had to fight alcoholism nor has anyone in my family! Has to be extremely difficult!

Anyway, now that BVDV is gone...the healing process is well under way. Cyclone Nation was definitely split after the way that situation went down! Now we have a coach that can unite us in ways we were during the LE run!

    GO STATE!!!

Will be interseting to see how we do against Savanah State this Wednesady in the mediacom classic.

Also should note, LE's team has one senior and three juniors. Another young team. I would have to think he was able to work his schedule around the fact he needs to get his young team to play togeather and with his style.

    Spring Hill?

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

    Thomas Jefferson, 1802
