Re: Rutgers player tackled by the hair

I remember when Ricky Williams and Edgerin James were complaining about being tackled by their dreads. The NFL said "then cut your hair" and eventually they both did. Troy Polamalu has been brought down by his hair as well. Hey its a risk of having longer hair.

Larry Johnson tackled Polamalu by his hair a couple of years ago and got a PF called on him for it. I thought that was ridiculous.

It is part of the player, and can be used to tackle.

This is also the reason most players choose to wear pants.

Re: Rutgers player tackled by the hair

My wife swears that is was a woven in hair extension. That makes sense to me as the piece that came off was too short to go all tha way to his scalp and tearing a braid of hair in two pieces would require incredible force.

I would do that too. I think they all should. They look ******** with that crap hanging out of their helmet anyways.

I say anyone with hair flowing out past their helmet deserves to get it ripped out of their head.

Wasn't the PF on Johnson because it was essentially a horse-collar? I'm all for allowing the hair to be pulled, but in that situation it was no different than grabbing the back of the guys shoulder pads.

Which personal foul? He provided a lot of them to choose from.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.

Supposedly the flag was because he kind of pulled Polamalu back up by the hair as well, but Polamalu was already on his way back to standing up after the tackle anyway.
