    UNI Win

I think ISU needed this win to gain some confidence after the shocker against HAWAII. You can definitely see how excited these kids are from watching the post game locker room reaction.

I hope we gained enough confidence to destroy couple more in-state rivals!

    Re: UNI Win

This years team seems to be better than last years at this point. They are learning as they go yet some have experence and are helping the new players fit in. Being able to put 4 guys on the court that can shoot the 3 at once is huge for this team.

Haluska and Pety seem like coaches on the court and could be a huge help to the younger guys.

Thanks for posting that...it's fun to watch stuff like that. That was a huge win last night, really huge. It's not that UNI is some kind of top-tier team but that represents a hurdle this program has not been able to jump over....I guess I kind of see this as a good sign the program is headed in the right direction. Although I'm sure we are going to see some bad basketball played yet this season...

    Re: UNI Win

Interesting quote from GMac: DG you didn't play well for a long time but then you settled in man. And that's - you gotta get over stuff that happens between you and me. It's said in the heat of battle... means nothing to me. Ok... I'm trying to make you better.

    DG: Mhmm.

Gmac: You didn't let it bother you and you came in and gave us a huge lift.

It's the kind of thing I wouldn't normally focus on from this video and I'm not trying to "stir the pot", but do you think these kinds of exchanges in the heat of battle are part of what WJ didn't like about McDermott? If so, has Greg learned from that experience? It certainly seems like a similar type of situation, but one where he went out of his way to tell him it didn't matter later.

Maybe this is different, maybe not, and I'm definitely not trying to say that DG is going to leave because of this. I think he's been playing great this season and can't wait to see him for 2 3/4 more.

It was a lot of fun to watch the way the team interacts and how happy they were to get a road win. At the same time, I can certainly see how something like a 10 game road losing streak gets into the players heads. They were very happy about winning - you heard "Road win", Road win baby" almost nonstop. I can only imagine the disappointment if they had let it slip away.

Let's hope we start a road winning streak! Go State!

I didn't get to see the game, but I noticed ISU had only 6 assists on 25 field goals, which included 12 field goals by Brackins. How is that even possible when Brackins had only two offensive rebounds? Was Craig scoring his points by driving to the basket?

Assists are a subjective stat. How many assists did UNI have? Sometimes it is an official scorer who is less lenient with giving out assists - in this case I'm not sure.

The days of BAD basketball are gone...this is still a very young team. We'll make mistakes, but we're definitely headed in the right direction. Defense is always going to take away something...the key is we have answers for it now.

A general observation of mine is that young people these days don't take criticism as well as they did back in my day. It's got to be difficult to be a coach in today's world. Of course, the salary helps!!

    Love this...

    - Coaching isn't about making friends, it's about making guys better individuals, team players and young men.
    - Greg did what any good/great coach does - pick his guy back up after getting on him.

And ya know what? It worked - DG got better in that game - not worse.

If that's why Wes left, he couldn't take a coach being critical of him...boo-hoo.

As another poster noted assists can be a little fishy... but for the most part when Craig recieved the pass he had to dribble around a defender once or more ... meaning the pass really did not "assist" the scoring try.

    Re: UNI Win

I absolutely 100 percent agree that this was a MUST WIN!!! At halftime I had the feeling, that I really didnt want to see what would happen to the rest of the season IF WE LOST THIS GAME!!!

These games are great to win but murder to lose!!! Hangover City after this game!!

Great Win Great Game...It's hard to believe that they could only draw 5500 fans though!!
