    Dominique Buckley

I live out of state and am a little out of touch. What is the deal with Buckley? I think there was a lot of hope for him this year and even some thoughts he might become a starter. I see he hasn't been in yet tonight and am curious what is going on?

What about Clinton Mann... I don't think he's redshirting... maybe a waste of a year for him?

    Re: Dominique Buckley

Until he develops some more and gets used to the college game, we have others (Garrett) who are better than him for now.

    Re: Dominique Buckley

He is a freshman and we have capable guards right now. This was not the kind of game to stick him in. He will play in other non-conference games though, I'm sure.

    Re: Dominique Buckley

I think Buckley's main strength is his size, but from what i've seen of him this year, he just hasn't made the best decisions when he's been in as far as passing, shooting, etc. I think he needs some more quickness too, but I think he's definitely got the body size to be a good Big XII PG.

    Re: Dominique Buckley

Once Mac gets into the heart of the season he really only plays 9 or so players, he doesnt fit in right now.

    Re: Dominique Buckley

Buckley looks very athletic, but McD runs a system. The system only works if everybody is on the same page. It takes a while to get it and understand. McD is playing a lot of people now to see what he has, but in a game like this he has to go with guys he can trust. I think Buck will contribute a lot down the line. I hope ISU gets to the point where Freshman don't play because we are that deep and talented. We are very deep at guard right now.

    Re: Dominique Buckley

With Garrett possessing a 3 to 1 assist to turnover ratio, it makes it tough to take away playing time.

This is very accurate. I feel that they will let Buckley learn at his own pace and we will start to see him play the 1 later in the year and have Garrett move over to more of a 2. Since Garrett is doing so well this year, there is no reason to rush Buckley in and feed him to the sharks like we had to do last year (with Garret and Peterson). I can see lots of playing time for Buckley at the 1 and Garrett at the 2 in the future; think Stinson and Blalock round 2!

    Re: Dominique Buckley

DG started slow last year and didnt play much earily in the year if I remember right. It just takes a bit for a player to get confy and to be able to adjust to the game. It also takes time for McD to get conifdent with a player, a PG even more.
