I did not realize Ronnie Harris was his father. I remember watching Ronnie play in the eighties.

    Re: DMR Barnes article

Reading that article gave me less hope that he will be a Cyclone. He stated one of his top reasons for picking a school will be the chance to win a national championship. I wonder if he has a better shot here or at KU or Duke. Keep your fingers crossed, with him and colvin in the backcourt we could be something special.

He's been saying that as long as I can remember so it's not a recent factor. I think the writing is on the wall but nobody seems to know.

    Re: DMR Barnes article

Marty and Miller were stirring the pot yesterday stating Jake Sullivan was pointing HB in another direction due to some rift with Mac.

Is this just more Marty antics?

I don't think there is much to this. Lets say there was a rift and Jake was "sending" HB in a another direction. I don't think it matters. HB is a smart young man and he is going to pick what is best for him regardless of the influences around him.

    Re: DMR Barnes article

Article says academics (business/finance) and winning a national championship are important. That would make Duke tough to beat. Of course what else is a kid going to say at this point. How about "I'm going where the weather is warm and the chicks are hot". That's probably Floyd's recruiting pitch.

    Re: DMR Barnes article

I don't know if it is Sullivan trying to steer HB away from ISU so much as it is him trying to steer him towards the Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky type schools. When it comes down to it, Sullivan is a business man and there is alot of money to be made in AAU. Up to now, All Iowa Attack has put out quality teams, but players that come to mind are Reece Ullenhop (Drake), John Lamb (Morehead State) and some other players who have gone more of an NAIA or JUCO route. This could be Jake's chance to really make his name and ship a player off to one of the big boys.

The fact of the matter is that he has created a business in All Iowa Attack and by getting a player to a Final Four caliber team will only help his marketability. He can now coax parents into throwing money at them by pointing to the TV during a Duke v. NC game or Kentucky (although they are awfult his year) v. Floridia type game and saying I put him there.

You would like to think Jake's loyalty to the school would trump his business ventures, but there is not much tying him to the school. I hope like crazy HB sees the light and comes to Ames, and I (unlike some others on here) think we still have a shot. I realize that it is still a very good marketing pitch for Jake to be able to say he created a top 10 nationally ranked player, but I just think that being able to put HB on a power house, nationally repsected team equates to more money in his pocket and more notority to his AAU teams.

I thought Jake was going to law school once leaving ISU? I guess that changed.

That's a pretty good pitch to a high school kid if you ask me... Not to mention the beach, the mountains, and the opportunities.

Yes I would not give Sullivan that much influence. If Harrison goes somewhere other than ISU it will not be because of him.

    Re: DMR Barnes article

Nice article. It really does a good job of pointng out how tough it really is going to be for ISU to get him. Al Lorenzen is the only Ronald McDonald All American who ever stayed in state.

Ronnie Harris was a great ball player. Probably one of the best Johnny Orr ever had besides Jeff Grayer and Barry Stevens.

As I've said before, it will be really special if Mr. Barnes picks ISU, but it will not surprise me at all if he goes somewhere else.

Just not KU. I'm sick of great Iowa HS players going down there and winning. I would much rather have him go to NC...A long, long way from here. Of couse the best choice is to stay a 'Clone!
