The Big Eight's version of Plaxico Burress

the Plaxico Burress story of the weekend made me nostalgic for the early 80s and the University of Missouri's version of the story, when All-American Steve Stipanovich shot himself in foot at an off-campus party:

Anyone have a better link? That's the best i could find.

    What don't you understand Hobbs?

Stipanovich struggled early in his college career, both personally and on the court. He missed a portion of his sophomore season after accidentally shooting himself while playing with a gun at an off campus party, and he was involved in a fight at a St. Louis area White Castle restaurant after another customer made disparaging remarks about his play.

    I removed it.

And Mizzou played at Hilton shortly thereafter. Numerous cap guns were brought in by the students. Those were the days.

My dad was telling me about that. He said the students were firing them while he was shooting free throws.
