    BigXII North=Big 10 & Big XII South=SEC

Cold hard truth, talent wise this is how it has been going for 8 years....

They are faster, stronger, better skill positions... etc...

    Geographically makes sense...

Can it change for a span longer than 1-2 years??

(obviously I know that big xii south is more high flying, less defensive games)

I am talking pure talent here, not necessarily types of offense, etc.

I think big xii north teams fold nicely into the Big 10 mediocre style of football.

Been watching alot of all 3 conferences and it just became very clear.

The Missouri vs. Kansas game Saturday did not look like Big 10 football.

...And the Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State game Saturday did not look like SEC football.

Talent wise I am talking, not type of offense/defense.

Talent-wise on defense the Big 10 is ahead of the north, unless the Big 10 offenses are just that bad.

DING DING DING and we have a winner. Big 10 defenses are slow, very slow. put them against most big 12 offenses and they will get shredded. their offenses, more of the same SLOW and that is whytheir Ds look half way decent. i was watching "tOSU"s running back (cant believe i forgot his name as much as ESPN was shoving his name down our throats before the season) and he was very slow looking, if he were playing good defenses he would be very very lucky to get a 1000 yd season, imo.

I would have to say that the North is more like the Big East and the South is just completely on a different level than the North in every facet. Clearly Texas and Oklahoma are both capable of being National Champions as much, or more so, as Alabama and Florida.

Sorry... I think you are wrong. Yes... put ANY defense against a Big XII south team and they will get shredded.

Put any defense against most north teams and that won't happen.

The only thing I know is ISU has been faster than Iowa the past 2 years. 2 years ago ISU was a lot faster, this year a little faster.

Our speed was taken away by the conditions. However, in general, Big XII teams are much more athletic top to bottom than Big 10 teams.

    Re: BigXII North=Big 10 & Big XII South=SEC

personally, i think USC has the best defense in the country and could match up with the Big XII South. Their D-line are monsters and the linebackers are fast and the dbs are the second coming of Ronnie Lott.

i would like to see them tested against Florida, OU or UT instead of Penn State. They would probably handle Tech much like OU because of Tech's lack of a mobile QB and consistent run game.

the pac-10 is weak, but their D has been completely dominating. oregon state was a fluke, but it still counts.

    Re: BigXII North=Big 10 & Big XII South=SEC

Osu Mich (not this year) and PSU have serious talent every year just look at NFL rosters they could play in any conference the rest of the teams are less talented.

ISU has had more speed then Iowa at WR and DB but Iowa's DB's especially Godfrey Fletcher and Speivy are just better FB players. ISU has better speed at S.

Iowa has more complete line play on both sides and the D-line is not even close.

ISU has better QB play but he cant make up for their line play.

NEXt year I will bet my house on ISU they are at home.

With that said I would bet the same house Iowa has a better season.

    Re: BigXII North=Big 10 & Big XII South=SEC

College football this year is not as good as it has been in recent years. It just isn't. The Big Ten is still down, the SEC is mostly down save for two or three teams, maybe just two. The Big 12 has the South teams and Mizzou, and there is USC in the Pac 10. Cincy wins the Big East, GT beats Georgia, S. Carolina gets smoked by Clemson...

I am still wildly entertained by college football, it's my favorite thing to watch on TV.

But having watched a good portion of at least 75 college games this year, including WAC, MWC teams, I am of the opinion the level of play is down.

    Re: BigXII North=Big 10 & Big XII South=SEC

Holy, blind mice Bat man this is the most amaszzzzzing myth I run into on Big 12 boards. Try as I might I can’t get people to open their eyes. The Big 10 has the absolute most outside Lbers in the NFL. Why?????? Because they are fast and can cover Wr’s and Rbers in space. Please don’t believe me look it up for yourself. I have ALSO watched lots of Big 12, SEC and Big 10 football for years and it is the single most idiotic miss-belief in all of football. In fact just this year a commentator said tOSU didn’t lose to LSU because they were slower. In fact if you lined them up for a track meet tOSU was probably a goodly amount faster. LSU however was a much better, more prepared, more physical football team.

I have run down stat after stat on this very topic. The Big 12 is so far behind the Big 10 on NFL alumni it’s embarrassing. In fact the gap is growing. A few years back it was in the neighborhood of a 30 person disparity(with one less team I might add). Last I checked (August or September) it was now 80! So by all means tell yourself that the big 12 has more talent, but the guys who scout talent for a living don’t agree! I don’t remember where but someone awhile back found a site that broke down NFL players by position, by conference. The SEC has a edge on middle backers and D-linemen if I recall and I can’t remember where the Big12 lead but believe me when I say it isn’t because you are allegedly faster.

If ANYONE has a major speed advantage it is the SEC and D-linemen! As for the Bog 10‘s comparison to the great SEC, again last I checked we both averaged 22 per team with the SEC having more based on 12 teams. That by the way is an improvement for the Big 10. Contrary to popular belief the Big 10 isn’t suddenly talent poor. They maybe QB poor, but not overall talent. We also have the most O-linemen as you would expect. It is also there where it all starts.

I very recently attempted to dispel this very argument on here and pointed out some amazing 40 times comparing the aforementioned conference’s. I had one of your fans accuse me of cherry picking, Soooooo you guys ask me a program and I’ll start digging up NFL Pro day times and you’ll be shocked. In fact let’s start by you telling me which 3 programs you perceive to be the slowest in the Big 10 and the fastest in the Big 12 and I’ll pull some WR, Lb, DE, Db Rber times. I honestly don’t care which. I have looked at so much of this stuff I already know where it leads, so any teams will do. I will start right off the bat by telling you that Texas had an outside Lber run a 4.88-40 for his Pro day last year and OU had 2-Dbs run in the 4.6‘s. I’ll also tell you that there is a Big 10 program (this shocked even me) that put 2*240-250 Lbers in the NFL last year that I’ll wager ran as fast a 40’s as most of ISU’s starting D-backfield.

Let’s get started I love this subject!

    Chad
