    Nobody's talking about...

...what would happen if Alabama kicks the crap out of Florida in the SEC Championship game. Say, like 50-3. I know it wouldn't affect the BCS Title Game but everyone already has the SEC title game loser in the Sugar Bowl. Why would a 2 loss Florida team (with a home loss to Ole Miss and a blowout loss in SEC title game) be a an automatic for the Sugar?

    Re: Nobody's talking about...

Alabama has a surprisingly weak schedule, if you look at it. The SEC isn't the monster it started out the season as, and Florida will be by far the biggest test for Alabama.

Aug 30 @Clemson Won 34-10 - Bowl eligible, but just barely. Fired their coach.

    Sep 6 Tulane Won 20-6 - 2-10 in CUSA

    Sep 13 W. Kentucky Won 41-7 - New addition to 1A, 2-9 this year

    Sep 20 @Arkansas Won 49-14 - 5-7, destroyed by Texas

Sep 27 @Georgia Won 41-30 - Good win, but Georgia was very overrated to start the year.

Oct 4 Kentucky Won 17-14 - Almost lost this one, 6 wins, 2 in conference

Oct 18 Mississippi Won 24-20 - One of the better wins on the schedule..ole Miss is 8-4

Oct 25 @Tennessee Won 29-9 - Bad bad Tennessee team this year - fired their coach

Nov 1 Arkansas St. Won 35-0 - 6-5 in the Sun Belt

Nov 8 @LSU Won 27-21 - LSU is down this year. 5 losses on the season, should have been 6

Nov 15 Mississippi St. Won 32-7 - Fired their coach. Bad this year

Nov 29 Auburn Won 36-0 - Might fire their coach after 5-7 this year.

Weakest undefeated team to come out of the SEC in a LONG time. Florida, I think, will pound them.

    Because it's Florida.

When it comes down to it, this is how it's going to fall out:

    6 Auto Qualifiers:
    SEC: Alabama-Florida winner
    Big XII: Oklahoma-Missouri winner
    Big 10: Penn St
Pac 10: USC/Oregon St (depending on outcome of USC-UCLA)
    Big East: Cincinnati
    ACC: Boston College-Virginia Tech winner

    Utah also "auto qualifies".

That leaves 3 spots open among these following teams:
    Alabama-Florida loser
Texas/Oklahoma (if Oklahoma loses to Missouri)
USC (if USC loses to UCLA)
    Boise St
    Ohio St

The BCS isn't going to have to look outside the BCS top 10 to find qualifiers, so those are the only teams that will be considered. Assuming USC beats the snot out UCLA on Saturday, and, in your scenario, Florida loses:

Texas/Oklahoma is going to get one of those spots almost regardless.
Are you REALLY trying to tell me that Florida won't be selected for one of two spots against a field including Ohio State or Boise State? Or, for the sake of argument, USC loses (and they'll get an at large almost regardless) - do you really think Florida won't be selected for the final spot against those two same teams, even if they get blown out against Alabama, especially when their BCS ranking will still likely be higher than either of those two Sunday evening?
