Heisman Week - Best Ever Finalists?

I think this years class will be an average class looking back based on NFL success.

Troy Smith & Brady Quinn could both be pro bowl qb's. Hart & McFadden while not I will be surprised if they are superstars both could be good NFL backs.

For me the best ever heisman class was 1982.

    Winner: Herschel Walker
    2nd: John Elway
    3rd: Eric Dickerson
    4th: Anthony Carter
    5th: Dave Rimington (NU Center)
    9th: Dan Marino

I thought Drew Tate already won?
    Did I miss something?

Don't forget Steve Slaton is a finalist this year as well, he might have the brightest future of any of the backs...

Very good point. I think the team I had the most fun watching this year was West Virginia. No, they aren't a National Championship team (thanks to their defense), but they are really fun to watch with both White and Slaton in the backfield.

Good class. I think McFadden will be the best of the group as far as future NFL players go. To early to rank it. I would say there have been 8 better classes though. Last year was better with the top 3 as Young, Bush, and Leinert IMO

Troy Smith an all-pro qb? He isn't even expected to be drafted on the first day.

Where did you read this? I will bet you 100 right now that he will be a first day pick. He has a cannon and is mobile. He has shown his accuracy as well. He will be a good pro

Re: Heisman Week - Best Ever Finalists?

There was more "sizzle" with last years class, but I am not convinced this years won't have similar/better long term success. I don't see Vince or Matt being pro bowl and Reggie's career will be real intersting to watch. After seeing several games, he will have to develop into more of a strong runner over the next couple of years as his explosiveness takes a step back as it always does. At this point he could become a very good RB, but I don't see a Dickerson type year out of him.

Whatever happened to Wolfe from Northern Illinois? He was up near the top earlier this season.

Have you not watched Young at QB this year? He will be an All Pro before you know it. I have said since last year when he was at Texas that he will be a top 10 QB when it is all said and done and I am not backing down from my comments. He is on the Titans who have no receivers and his leading them to back to back wins over the Giants and Colts. The guy just knows how to win. That is something you can't teach

Yes I have watched Young. (he is also my Fantasy Football QB since my Eagle QB went down) I really hope I am wrong and the Young does break out. At this point I expect him to be a good NFL QB with a long career, just not starting games in Hawaii.

Wolfe tailed off as his production fell. After a stunning first half of the season he came back to earth with several low rushing total games.
