What are your keys tomorrow's game?

I think one is to defend without fouling, especially against their guards. Haluska especially is really shooting a great percentage from the line this year.

I think if we hold Haluska to 10 points or less it puts us in a great position to win.

Also, I think we flat out just have to make shots. Sometimes it seems like our guys will get plenty of open looks but just can't knock them down.

What else you guys thinking of?

Re: What are your keys tomorrow's game?

    1) Limit Iowa's offensive rebounds
    2) Get to the free throw line - we have struggled with this at times. We need to be more aggresive on offense
    3) Keep turnovers < 15 for the game. I'm talking to you, Mr. Taylor!

Re: What are your keys tomorrow's game?

My worry is that Haluska wises up and starts taking it to the hoop more. I think he can be really effective doing that, as he is not hitting his threes yet and would at least get to the line more to get his points.

My keys for the good guys are:

    1. MT with 4 TOs or less
    2. Jiri with less than 3 trey attempts
    3. An emphasis on entering the ball to the posts
    4. Improved help defense

I think if 3 of 4 of these happen, we win. At the very least, it will greatly reduce my screaming at the TV.

Re: What are your keys tomorrow's game?

1)Work the offense. If we get into a frenzy of 3 pointers early on, it's gonna be hard to win on the road.
2)Limit the turnovers. If we start turning it over, things will go downhill real fast.
3)Keep the crowd out of the game. If the crowd gets rowdy, Iowa will feed off of it (especially with all of the young players). All it will take is a couple of high flyers from Clark, Wesley, or Gray to shut down the crowd in a real big way.

Re: What are your keys tomorrow's game?

My keys to this game, as with every game are to score more points than your opponent before the end of the game (except in cross country and golf, the lower the score the better).

seriously, I don't know what Iowa is like except for the meltdown I saw them have vs. the Sun Devis a couple weeks ago. Shut down Haluska. Play as a team, shoot more FT's than your opponent takes, rebound, blah blah blah...

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

Re: What are your keys tomorrow's game?

    1. Keep Haluska from heating up.
    2. Better defense when man-ing up in the post.
    3. Less TO's by Mike T and Corey Mc.

Re: What are your keys tomorrow's game?

Have fun with that. As far as Iowa goes, I was pretty impressed when I watched them against UNI. I hadn't really seen them before that but I think we're going to be in trouble against them. Of course hitting a few 3-pointers throughout the game might help us hang around.

Re: What are your keys tomorrow's game?

What impressed you about them wonkadog? I watched most of the game and the most impressive thing was that Smith guy. Yes, they'll give us trouble, but we're not overmatched here by any means. They're a young team just like us, and they seemed to have a lot of trouble getting down the floor against UNI.

Re: What are your keys tomorrow's game?

    1. have more assist then turnovers/force more turnovers
    2. shot selection, dont do random quick shots
    3. win the rebounding, on both sides
    4. dont be lazy on the inbound plays (i honestly belive that is what cost us the drake game, i hated when taylor just let the ball roll around on the ground for like 5 seconds and the picked up the ball, and when you think about it, that cost us the game)
    5. keep the motivation, cant allow big plays

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Everyone is overlooking the most critical item of all -

Score more points than the hawks.

Re: What are your keys tomorrow's game?

    1. Get to the free throw line.
    2. Contain Haluska
    3. Limit TOs
    4. Win Rebounding battle

That should be enough to get us a win.

I don't know for sure, I guess I'm just always pessimistic about Iowa in thinking that they're going to get some lucky break (because it seems like they usually do). I watched the game expecting them to look horrid on offense when Haluska wasn't scoring but they were seemingly throwing up crazy shots in the lane and they were all going in. I guess it was late at night after a couple beers so maybe I was hallucinating...

Re: What are your keys tomorrow's game?

Haha, yeah i know what you're sayin. Iowa just always seems to catch a break somehow, and especially since its in Carver Hawkeye Arena. They didn't look nearly as bad as I made it sound, I just like to downplay the Hawks whenever possible, its just in by blood. All-in-all it should be real interesting to watch.
