This is great how CU is beating up on NU early in the game

    Re: CU vs NU

as much as the arrogant huskers deny there is a rivalry in this series, they seem to have some great games over the last couple decades, even in down years CU seems to play the huskers tough (see: '97,'98,'99, '00)

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

Anyone agree with the announcer at the end of the half that there should have been a penalty on that hit? I've never heard of "protecting" wide receivers.

He was defenseless, did not have the ball, and it was helmet to helmet.

I would not have faulted the officials for throwing a flag on it.

I guess I didnt see it as helmet to helmet, but the ball was already past the receiver. The d-back is taught to take his shot at the receiver in that situation. Perfectly legal

It is most certainly not legal to take a shot at a receiver who has no chance at catching the ball. You can take your shot at a receiver if you can't get to the ball, provided that you don't hit the receiver before the ball arrives and that the ball is catchable.

    Re: CU vs NU

The "defenseless player" rule specifies contact "above the shoulders" as being grounds for a penalty.

I have never heard of the ball being catchable being part of the equation. You see D-backs lay a big hit on the receiver all the time when the ball is well over the receiver's head, but the ball is already past. He's fair game in that case.
