    The Case for Utah

Why should Utah be considered for the BCS title game? A few reasons. The Mountain West Conference is as good a conference as any BCS Conference and is certainly better than the PAC-10 (6-1 record) and probably the Big 10, ACC, and Big East. Overall the MWC is 9-4 against BCS Conference teams, 4-2 on the road. Utah also beat potential PAC-10 conference champ Oregon St. So if any BCS team with 1 loss is in the picture, undefeated Utah should be too...

The road team is listed first. Records in (), winner in bold.

    Wyoming (4-8) 13 - Tennessee (4-7) 7
    Arizona (6-5) 28 - New Mexico (4-8) 36
    Texas A&M (4-7) 28 - New Mexico (4-8) 22
    UNLV (5-7) 23 - Arizona St. (4-6) 20
    Iowa St. (2-10) 31 - UNLV (5-7) 34
    Colorado St. (6-6) 14 - Colorado (5-6) 38
    Colorado St. (6-6) 7 - California (7-4) 42
    BYU (10-2) 28 - Washington (0-11) 27
    UCLA (4-6) 0 - BYU (10-2) 59
    Stanford (5-7) 14 - TCU (10-2) 31
    TCU (10-2) 10 Oklahoma (10-1) 35
    Utah (12-0) 25 - Michigan (3-9) 23
    Oregon St. (8-3) 28 - Utah (12-0) 31

I would love to see Utah get a shot, but it just won't happen unfortunately.

    Re: The Case for Utah

Remember how badly OSU got beat 2 years ago by Florida? And last year by LSU?

Those OSU teams would absolutely drill Utah. Utah would get destroyed, and we would be stuck with yet another lame NC game.

Although Utah probably deserves better, the MWC cannot be compared to the SEC and Big 12.

I don't think Utah would get destroyed, but I'm also not arguing they are one of the 2 best teams in the country. I do hope they win their BCS game and finish in the top 4.

Need a playoff system. That way they'd have a shot.

Really? I'd like to know why you are absolutely sure Utah would stand no chance instead of us just straight up believing a straight up assertion...

    Re: The Case for Utah

Is there any other league or sport that looks at almost half of the teams and says, no matter how good you are or how well you play, you are not allowed a chance at a championship...

I suppose you and I can believe whatever we want, because we'll never get the chance to see it happen.

Hawaii looked pretty good last year before their bowl game, too.....

Boise St looked really good the year before that, and so did Utah 2 or 3 years previously...

I think Hawaii just ran into a really bad matchup... They could have done better against some of the other BCS teams...

Hawaii played absolutely no one if I remember right. Utah played Oregon St. and BYU, who is decent. Looking at their schedule again, I think they would probably get beat pretty bad by the top few teams: Florida, OU, Texas (not so sure about Bama), but could be competitive with the next level.

    2008 Utah >>>> 2007 Hawai'i.

Those were the easiest credits I ever made on this site for the Sugar Bowl. Throttled.
