    Alot of tiptoeing around here

Brackins was horrible last night. So was Eik, but he is a freshman getting over the flu and it was his 1st road game. 1st half when we really needed Brackins he was not there. Then the debacle at the end was on Brackins and the coaches. Petey gave his fanatic strong effort, and Hamilton was huge at times as was Thompson. Garrett was THE TEAM in large chunks of the game. Heartbreaking loss, typical ISU ending.

How has Hawaii done this year it seems to me that going to the big Island is a tough place to play.

I won't tip toe. It was an embarrassing loss. One we never should have lost. But we did, and now it is time to move on.

Lot of games to be played.

they lost to cal fullerton and some other ****** team at home this year. It is a bad bad loss.

If you stayed up to watch the game, you would know that they were a very poor team

I just know the trip is tough they are a different team on the big island plus ISU has to go a lot farther than any team from CAL.

Re: Alot of tiptoeing around here

If Brackins doesn't completely **** up the end of the game, this board has a much different tone today. We would most likely be applauding our players for pulling out a victory when we didn't play our best. We would be praising them for being a young team and going to Hawaii and coming out with a win. We would be praising them for not being rattled and coming back from a double digit deficit.

This loss is horrible. It is embarrassing. It is inexcusable. This team is not good right now. I still think 18 wins is possible.

What I find ridiculous is the fans that display the emotional maturity of a 4th grader. It is amazing to me how one boneheaded play completely changes the outlook on the season for many fans. Never get too high, never get too low (i know this is impossible on a message board).

That made me chuckle when I read it initially, but I agree.

Re: Alot of tiptoeing around here

    No tip-toeing here...

ISU is 4 games into the season and has shown very little in the post against very mediocre competition...certainly nothing that will suffice for the Big 12. Rebounding from the big players has not been good. ISU has only attempted 50 FTs against these mid/low major teams. That FT attempt number should be double given the competition that ISU has played.

These things must improve by Big 12 time, or it will not be a pretty conference season.

Re: Alot of tiptoeing around here

Brackins is not anywhere close to pro potential right now. That is the good thing I took out of this loss. That is about the only thing good I took from this loss. Possibly Garrett taking over a game for a while.

Re: Alot of tiptoeing around here

I don't like how some here just like during FB are using "well we're young" excuse. No more excuses, the loss was unacceptable and if Brackins wants to be the face of the program he needs to step up and makes plays when his team needs him and for long stretches he was non-existant on offense and at the end of the game possibly the difference between a win and a loss with the missed free throw and the defensive mistake to send his man to the FT line to win the game. I'm not down on Brackins, disappointed yes but I hope that this negative is something that sticks with him and motivates him to be more consistent this year and step up when his team needs him.

It's time to take the Pampers off these kids both in FB and BB and take things for what they are. If we ever want these programs to get to the levels the fans and coaches and athletes want them to be we can't baby these kids and we can't keep looking for silver linings after every disappointing loss. If you want to look at a program run the right way just look a little south west of Ames where KU replaces their entire starting lineup and hasn't really missed a beat yet this season. I would hope we could at least get to a point where if 1 or 2 guys leave it's not a huge drop off where we have to rebuild another 3 years just to get 1 good season.

Good way to put it, we lost to an awful team, but its just one loss and there is nothing we can do about it now, time to move on

I think it's okay to have high expectations and be disappointed to lose a game by a point we probably shouldn't have lost. That being said though, there are some pretty valid and legitimate reasons why were picked to finish close to or at the bottom of the Big 12.

Fans who expect us to skate through to the NCAA tournament or who had their hopes raised because of a 3-0 record against not so tough competition at home to start the season are setting themselves up for a very long season.

i was somewhat worried when i seen Hawaii on the schedule

For as long as i can remember there has been bizzare strange calls and fouls on teams that play there. Plus add in the long flight and the fact your playing your 1st road game with a new team in Hawaii adds up to trouble.
