    Hawk fans gripping....

Got this from HawkeyeNation from Foreverhawk.....

John Higgins, one of the refs in the game tonight was a groomsman in Rick Hartzel, the AD at UNI's wedding. With Hartzel being a ref as well, there is no reason that one or more of his buddies should be reffing any UNI games period. This game was officiated horribly. Ticky Tack fouls most of the night. Then down the stretch, all Coleman had to do was throw himself into a vertical Hawkeye and a foul would be called. Really too bad, because the Hawks played well most of the game. But, you have to be able to protect a lead no matter what is going on and this team has not been able to do that now twice this season!

    Bwwwwaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahh!!!!

Once a hawk, always a hawk. You know, they never lose cause the other team was better then them, only because someone has it out for them(ref in this case). Their so arrogant and full of themselves.

And I love it.............The week just got extremely better.

well, when I was in high school (CR) our AD was a BigTen ref for football games. Guess where he graduated from? guess whose games he reff'ed? guess what school was his favorite?

If you answered Iowa to all three... you are as smart as Ron Maly.

It goes both ways..... and they have a hard time taking their medicine.

    typical hawk blather.

John Higgins refereed some of my high school games in the Omaha Metro. He was excellent. It's been interesting watching him get into big time college basketball. I didn't make the connection with Hartzell, but it makes sense.

    Re: Hawk fans gripping....

I didn't see the game today but Hartzell reffing always seemed a little shady to me. I think that most refs do their best to be impartial but there is the appearance of impropriety.

Maybe WM can ref the game in Iowa City on Friday.

Hartzell was NOT a ref tonight.

Officials: John Higgins, Paul Janssen, Tim Higgins

Oh the Higgins brothers are to blame for Iowa woes. And the Fugitive Jansen helped them.

Not sure you want that to happen...after last year's Morgan/McDermott exchange (I'm pretty sure those weren't compliments coming from Wayne's World), Homer Simpson's twin soul brother would likely lean toward favoring the Hawks.

    Re: Hawk fans gripping....

I think I've viewed more threads about the Hawks than ISU on this board in the last couple days.

I'd like to gripe about that.

I'm aware of that but he knows and works with refs all over the country. If his buddy is reffing UNI games or reffing games that might affect UNI there will be questions raised.

On a side note I think Paul Janssen (from Orange City) has a bit of history with ISU. He was a ref for the phantom KU 3-pointer game and it seems like there was something else I'm forgetting.

    Re: Hawk fans gripping....

The refs were also GOD AWFUL when we played at UNI this year. Tick-tack fouls the entire first half....no wonder they are tough to beat in that garbage dome.
