Tim Griffin ESPN blog : Arnaud story

Good story/interview with Arnaud in Griffin's blog today:

ESPN - Arnaud perseveres in tough season for ISU - Big 12

    On the K-State game tomorrow...

"It would mean wonders for the program if we would be able to win," Arnaud said.

There was also a bit about Arnaud in the "What to Watch For" post:

ESPN - What to watch in the Big 12: Week 13 - Big 12

Interesting that Darks is essentially the back up QB

Great article. So Darks is the back-up if Arnaud is injured tomorrow - makes sense

Re: Tim Griffin ESPN blog : Arnaud story

Griffin usually does a pretty good job. Overall it was a good article but he had some glaring mistakes.

    a 35-33 defeat at Kansas
    This should be obvious!

Arnaud passed for a career-high 371 yards in last week's 52-20 loss to Missouri
Arnaud's career high 371 yards came against Texas A&M, he had 326 yards against Missouri- Link

And guess what, Iowa State now ranks 46th in the nation in passing offense; two notches below Ok St.

I really like the quote about treating this game as the first game of next season. It sounds like the under classmen are ready to forget about this year and get some momentum going towards next season. They could easily just give up and wait. Hopefully the team takes this to heart and can pull of a W this Saturday.

Actually if the game gets out of hand and is over, we may see some Darks at qb....just saying...they do have a poor ruin defense...and Darius is a go getter....

AA has put together a very nice year. I think it will be a huge deal the Tiller got to keep the redshirt. Two full year after AA is done will be good for him and the team. It really shows how GC is building for the future and not just this year.

Re: Tim Griffin ESPN blog : Arnaud story

    Thanks- good article.

I didn't realize the Chiz would be so adamant about protecting Bueker's red-shirt. I can understand Tiller- but would think Bueker would be the better candidate to step in a few games ago and take some snaps. I guess if Darks can pull it off, then more power to him! Would be really surprised to see Darks in for more than a play or two without AA being hurt.

If they want to consider this to be the first game of next season, then LET'S GO CLONES!! Let's be 1-0 before next year even starts!!!

We already won. They played the game today and won 42-1. They are going to have the game on tape delay and will use holograms to replay it for those in the stands.

The answer is yes, I'm assuming.

I like to comment about KSU defense being bad. I can't even imagine a defense worse than ISUs. It has been a long year, it would be nice to get a win.

Good catches. I just sent Tim the following "feedback":

    Tim,

Regarding your "The Big 12 - in factoids" post (ESPN - The Big 12 - in factoids - Big 12) ...

    This is completely wrong:

"Iowa State will be attempting to become the first Big 12 team since Iowa State in 2003 to go 0-8. The Cyclones have held a lead in only three of their seven Big 12 games."

Baylor went 0-8 LAST SEASON. I know it's "fun" to pick on ISU, but as the journalistic expert/voice of Big XII football for the world's largest sports media outlet I expect more.

I love your work, and I read your blog every day, but misses like this just make you look like you're piling on. You might want to correct/remove this from your post.

Here are a couple others from your Austen Arnaud article:

    1) Arnaud did not throw for 371 yards against Missouri. He threw for 326 yards against Missouri. The 371 came against Texas A&M.
    2) The ISU loss was not AT Kansas, it was in Ames.

Ugh. Come on, Tim. These aren't obscure, hard-to-find bits of trivia here.

Again, great job all season, and thanks for bringing some attention to the young Arnaud. If not for an awful defense and, say, 5 or 6 other QB's in his conference in the Top 20 in the country, Arnaud might get more attention as a budding star.

    Take care,
    (ISU_Alum_2000)
