Teen commits suicide live on the internet

Horror as teenager commits suicide live online - Times Online

There is other talk of message boards and suicide. Sad story but an interesting read.

There are some sick details about people cheering them on and ecouraging them to do it.

I saw that today, crazy. Weirdest thing was I was just on that justin.tv site watching live footage of someone playing a new Xbox game, had never been there before, weird.

I seem to remember one of the Law and Order series already doing an episode on something like this.

Actually - there was a movie about this already. It had Diane Lane as an e-Detective, and there was a serial killer who would set up death traps that would only be activated (and set off quicker) by the number of hits the website got. So everyone would be theoretically taking part in killing the person by visiting the web page.

I actually read some of that thread before they took it down. It was pretty disturbing. One of the moderators of the forum was informed that he was threatening suicide, but didn't do anything becasue she claimed he started threads like that all the time.

Some of the posters were saying they would come over and feed him the drugs themselves, calling him names, daring him to do it. It was surreal.

Just read the article - how tragic.

    Also, from the article:

Kevin Whitrick, 42, from Telford, Shropshire, killed himself after being goaded in an "insult" chatroom at the Paltalk website.

An Insult chat room? Never heard of that, unless your talking about the Rival forum on Hawkeye Report.
