    Abandoned Police Station

The Kohrman Report: Highland Park Vice

Found this on my browsing of the interweb. Apparently an abandoned police station in a city situated in the middle of Detroit. Struck me as interesting, all the stuff just left behind, like the people just up and left one day, weird stuff. Don't really know the story behind it yet.

This site has more pictures of the station and of a bunch of other abandoned areas of Michigan/Detroit.

    Re: Abandoned Police Station

Maybe an interdimensional rift opened and pulled in all of the people in the building?

    Re: Abandoned Police Station

I am extremely interested in old school buildings. Went to a couple extremely old schools in elementary school. Had an old abandoned school in the town I lived in that my buddies and I would go exploring in. Kinda weird, but I drive by old school buildings and I just have this HUGE urge to go inside and explore...

One of the locations on the second site I linked is of an old Adult Education school, some neat pictures.

I have the same thoughts and feelings towards old, abandoned buildings in general. Especially houses, barns, and warehouses. You never know what (if any) kind of treasures might be sitting inside, wasting away!!

Maybe it was abandoned because Coach Ferentz ran out of "recruits." Similar to over-fishing, per se.

No, he restocks by making sure his offspring also turn into criminals, someone else must be at fault.

    Re: Abandoned Police Station

There's a site out there somewhere that documents all sorts of old buildings and tunnels, including the ISU tunnel system. Pretty cool stuff out there. I think urban exploration would be quite fun in the right areas and with the correct protection in some cases!

    Re: Abandoned Police Station

Thanks for the link. I've always found abandoned buildings interesting. I worked for a surveyor for awhile in Kearney, Nebraska. One of our jobs took us to the local airport that used to be a training base for B-29's during WWII. The original barracks were still there (although they are gone now) and I got a chance to go inside and look around. It was cool to see the names of airman and the dates that they were there cut into the walls. Always interesting to see links to our past...

I have a niece that lives in Ann Arbor. She says the amout of abandoned lreal estate in Detroit is unreal. Entire blocks that look like everyone just got up and left. They must have low property tax.

That site has some pretty interesting photos. I think it'd be fun to check some of those places out, probably pretty dangerous too.

That seems like a pretty interesting site.

Anyone up for looking around Story County?

I don't want to go, I just want to see pics.

    Re: Abandoned Police Station

I shot a film in an abandoned hospital in Downey, CA. It was built in during one of the World Wars. The place was huge and had like 20 buildings. There was actually files with old medical records still there. Syringes, gurneys, etc. etc. It was pretty cool until the Fire Marshall stopped by and shut us down because the place was filled with asbestos.

    Re: Abandoned Police Station

I helped work on the Ottumwa airport remodel, and got a chance to go through the lockers left behind by the Basic Flight training base that was left over from WWII. Talk about cool urban exploration; you got to see some interesting and potentially embarrassing artifacts left behind by young military pilots who were training to fight in a war.

I still have an old leather jacket that was left behind. Cool stuff.
