    Interesting "Coordinator's Corners"...

...over on Cyclones.com. They also talk alot about the newcomers.

Football Coordinators Break Down K-State - Iowa State University Athletics Official Web Site - www.CYCLONES.com - Iowa State Cyclones Sports

    Including that it's "Rosey Mah-jitt".

    Fascinating stuff.

    Re: Interesting "Coordinator's Corners"...

I was hoping that someone else would respond to some of the comments.

Like Hammerschmidt being in the mold of Collin Franklin..."only bigger (6-5 260) and more athletic".

Or Jeremiah Schwartz bing compared to Jason Scales...only "bigger, and maybe a little faster". I was surprised no one caught on to either of those comments.

Or the fact that Lonzie Range wasn't included. Has he been rehabbing all year?

    Re: Interesting "Coordinator's Corners"...

The same reason I do not pay a whole lot of attention to recruiting. We hear all the time how good players are and how they practice well and put on so much weight but then get their behinds handed to them in games.

I will wait until I see improvement on the field rather then hear about it from so called experts on message boards and coach speak.

Ah. Well, you see, I look for nuggets where I can. Like years ago, when Hayden Fry said that an unknown freshman quarterback, a kid who had played the wishbone in high school, was going to be something special--before he ever played a game. Chuck Long did okay. Or how Dan McCarney was excited by a running back his predecessor hadn't seen fit to play much. Now that I think of it, both of those guys finished somewhere in the Heisman race, didn't they? Troy Davis was all right, too.

Compare those 2 to the other hundreds maybe thousands we have heard of and you will see why I feel the way I do.

Except that hasn't seemed to be the case with Chizik and his coaches. Collin Franklin and Scott Haughton being two examples. And they were all cautious about Sedrick Johnson, not knowing when the light would come on. That seems like a pretty good track record.

My computer is being dumb and wont let me listen to it. What did the coordinators say about the newcomers that are redshirting? Thanks.

    Re: Interesting "Coordinator's Corners"...

There would be a lot of scout team players across the country that would look good week in and week out against our starting team.

Take it all worth a grain of salt until we see them against some real competition next fall.

Maybe. A more pessimistic person might say that when fan morale and spirits are still positive you can afford to be honest and not over inflate players in order to gain credibility, then when things aren't going very well you can speculate to make sure the disheartened fan base has some hope to look forward to in the future. The audacity of hope. It gives people that need a reason to think things are looking better when there hasn't been anything measurable to suggest they are. It might be just good marketing for your own jobs. When fans are disgruntled you tell them better things are coming and here it is!!! that way no ones saying Fire the coordinators because the results that have been shown are unacceptable.

I hope I'm wrong, but I won't believe anything until I see it on the field.

Judiah Linder and Dustin Land in the secondary and Maggit and McDonough on the line would be BIG to have set up.
