    Big Ham

    No, this isn't a Thanksgiving thread for those non-turkey eaters out there.

    Just curious, for those of you who have seen him a few times, how does Justin Hamilton stack up athletically?

    At this point, I'm not talking skills, I'd just like a tape measure to judge by. I've seen a number of people say that he's more athletic than he expected, but just how athletic is that? Loren Meyer athletic? Of course, I have a friend who always complained that Loren was "clunky", but then, she never saw Ron Fallenschek play. Or Victor Alexander.

    On the other hand, I'm not sure we'll ever see a big man more athletic inside than Kelvin Cato. Though Brackins is close--and he's a natural forward.

    So, just curious, where along the spectrum would you folks place Big Ham?

    He's pretty athletic. It's tough to say right now because he's still learning and you can tell he isn't just letting loose.

    He's much more athletic than Big Skogs. That's all I can say now.

    He looks like he has aways to go, imo. I've only been to the UW-M game, and he didn't look bad by any means, but he didn't really make any plays that just impressed me (like almost everyone on the team did). It's good to have his size, and he seemed able to get up and down the court fine, and I think he'll probably be a decent player for us, but yeah, he ain't no Cato...

    He is definately more athletic than I thought he would be. Not like Brackins or JVB, but he can move his feet pretty well. He is a nice surprise.

    Ham looks like a good basketball player if that makes any sense. He moved well and has a good body for a frosh.

    Hamilton is raw, but has no bad habits...he's hit a little wall that he needs to push through. He'll play more in the Big 12, because we're going to need his size.

    For a 6'11 freshman he looks to have all the makings of a great big man in the future.

    He is pretty athletic for his size, and he seems to have good feet and hands. He actually catches all the passes thrown to him. Also, he is fairly solid, he is not a skinny stick at all like most freshman his height. Also seems to have pretty good touch.

    How does this sound--if we have a "push it up the floor" team in a couple of years, wll he be able to keep up, or drag along at the rear, like Big Country did for OSU?

    I realize he doubtless needs more strength, confidence and skill work...

    Has a lot of potential from what I have seen. Gives 110% effort getting up and down the floor. Hopefully, can develop his defensive game heading into the Big XII stretch. He definitely can provide some muscle on the inside.

    The best thing about him is the fact that he can hit a mid range jump shot. That is huge for a big man in what is looking to be a guard oriented offense.
