I've got one that never made a paper anywhere. it was a women's tennis match between Martina Hingis and Jennifer Capriati, where the gist of the story was that Hingis used clever ground strokes to defeat Capriati. The headline, which was rejected, was Cunning Hingis Licks Capriati.

Another one that did make a paper. Arkansas blocked a last-minute FG by South Carolina in Little Rock to win a game: Block Rocks 'Cocks in Rock.

Not quite the same but semi-related is this oldie but a goodie:

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

Not quite as good as some of these but being from NC Iowa originally, I remember a wedding announcement about a guy from Manly marrying a women from Fertile. The Headline was "Manly man marries Fertile woman".

Re: Is This The Most Suggestive Sports Headline Ever Written?

I don't think I can verify this, but I heard a story about a headline about a U of Minnesota football game in which the Gophers won without their top player. It supposedly said "Gophers Win With Cox Out."

Re: Is This The Most Suggestive Sports Headline Ever Written?

I'm also reminded of this headline I saw on the Register's website. It refers to a kicker making a game-winning field goal for SE Polk in the playoffs...

    "Viggers kicks Rams into semis"

The headline isn't suggestive, but for some reason this is what popped into my head when I first read it...

And yes, I took the time to make that at the time.
