Who is planning picking one of these up? I'm pretty excited about the release of these.

I was thinking about it, but I have to pay full retail. The price will probably determine if I buy one. Engagdet didn't give it to good of a review in my opinion though.

Unfortunately I have to wait until Dec. 1 - that's the soonest I can renew my contract

    Re: Blackberry Storm Release Tomorrow

I played with one for a while yesterday and was really impressed. The things that were a disappointment were just the overall "feel" of the quality of the buttons. I loved the size and feel in the hand and the screen was great. The software is going to be having several upgrades by the end of the year and that is certainly necessary based on the sometimes slowness of the system. Overall a great device.

    BlackBerry Storm review - Engadget
Reading some of the comments below the article that might put this review into a little bit more perspective:

Well the review was good, but coming from Engadget you can only trust it so much.

As everyone knows they are very pro Apple and for them to say something is better than one of there products might be very very hard for them or impossible.

The review might be 100%, but it's going to come down to opinion if the buyer thinks it's just as good as the Iphone.

I take this review with some truth, but I will have to see it for myself because again it's Engadget...
I don't know, it seems like a lot of the "problems" with the phone are just minor things that would come from anyone who is more used to an iPhone. I bet if he used the Storm for a couple years before he reviewed an iPhone, he'd have a lot of similar issues as would anyone.
I've toyed around with this device, and yes, it does take a couple of minutes to get used to the clicking...but I don't find it that horrible. I'm a fairly fast typer (faster than average, but not as fast as some of the hardcore iPhone users) and I found that initially, my speed on the Storm was slightly slower...initially. After about 15 minutes worth of typing (over about a 2 hour span) I found that I was about as quick on the Storm as I was on the iPhone.

This "click screen" also offers some other advantages....if you're in your message list, simply hovering on someones email address will do a search for all messages from that person...or, if you hover on the subject, it searches for all messages in that thread...very handy feature.

Navigating in the calendar (I'm a fairly heavy calendar user) is better...it allows you to swipe left or right to move a day/week/month forward and back...iPhone requires you to tap arrows.

The other thing that I liked was that when you plug it in (like the Bold) it goes into a Clock mode...couple that with the sync pod and you have a bedside alarm clock that you can take with you. Yes the iPhone does alarm also, but the display is blank for the most part (or shows the battery charging) which doesn't make it the best for a bedside clock.

But back to the click...It's great for navigating the device, and OK for typing...not perfect, but still acceptable to me. I don't think anyone who has an iPhone could type as fast as they do now when they first got it, it also had a learning curve.

For those who are unsure about the click, well, really for anyone, I'd say that you have to remember that this is just the reviewers opinion on typing. My experience has been different, and yours may be as well. There are limitations to the device, but there are limitations with a lot of devices, the key point is to take what people have said are good/bad, and try those things for yourself. Do you agree that the typing sucks? Then it's not the device for you. Do you actually like typing on it? Then buy it. When I can get this device, I'll pick one up and switch between my iPhone and the Storm because they do things differently.
Personally, I have larger than average fingers (which makes it a challenge to play the guitar, but I digress) and one of the problems with touchscreens sans stylus for me is my fingers make it very inaccurate when I toy around with them. Anything that allows me to hover to see where my fingers are at and then requires me to actually depress the screen would actually be a godsend for me.

Any pro's or con's of the device you would like to share? Where did you get to test it out at?

So in other words you're saying I should be looking forward to December 1...

I had the Q and now I am running a Samsung i760. They are ok but I'm interested in trying something new.

The Q sucked. i760 was functionally good, but the guts of it are weak. HTC phones are great. But, my fiance loves her blackberry, and I have to admit that it is pretty nice.

I had the Q for two years and liked it quite a bit. Probably because I had insurance on it and didn't have to replace it everytime it broke. The i760 was my wife's phone but since she is on bed rest she doesn't need it for awhile. She'll get it back this weekend I guess. I've never had a blackberry so I'm excited to see what all the fuss is about.

I have been told that that is not necessary. But enjoy the cold.

I've never owned a BlackBerry but am contemplating purchasing the Storm. Is this a good idea?
