    Nebraska basketball scouting

I watched the Nebraska / TCU game the whole way through last night, on the CBS sports package. Some interesting things:

    1. Nebraska is playing a 10 player rotation in non-conference. Not too unusual, but 9 of the 10 players are guards. The non-guard player, Chris Balham (Jr) is listed as 6'8'', and looked smaller. This is a small, athletic team.

    2. Lots of fouls by Nebraska. TCU would never have been in the game if it weren't for fouls. Nebraska fouled 26 times, and TCU had 38 free throw attempts.

    3. Defensively, Nebraska guarded the perimeter well. But they got eaten alive down low. If TCU would have pushed the ball into the low post more consistently, they could have won. But their guards weren't talented enough to do this.

    4. Nebraska had real problems with the 2-3 and 3-2 zone alignments. When faced with the zone, they had a lot of poor shots in the final seconds of the shot clock.

    5. Toney McCray (redshirt freshman) looks really good. Very athletic and can hit the three. A thinner version of Lucca. Like ISU, their offense is three point oriented.

    6. Cookie Miller is still not very consistent at the PG position, and Sek Henry looked weak when full-court pressed.

    Thanks for posting this!

Sounds like what we expected from Nebraska. Now we just have to beat them twice!! Maybe thrice, counting the Big XII tournament

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

    Re: Nebraska basketball scouting

They lost 2 big men in the recruiting process this year. One was the Puerto Rican guy and I think they lost another kid that originally came to Nebraska, had to go Juco, and was not allowed to attend Nebraska because of some crazy rule. Basically they got Cycloned.

Cycloned= team getting hosed by the big 12 or NCAA for some crazy rule that nobody even knew about.

Can you use this in a sentence? The awnser is sure I can.

Ludwig von Bethovan was not allowed to play his piano at the University of Illinios do to being Cycloned.

    Where does this term originate?

Well some people think it comes from the Indian Ocean and the Cyclones that are killing people over there. When in fact it comes from Ames, Iowa.

The big man you're referring to is Christopher Niemann, a 6'11" center from Germany. He did indeed get Cycloned, for the exact same reason Lucca did. But just like Lucca, he is sticking with the Nebraska program, and will be eligible next year (read link below for official Cornhusker spin).

Nebraska also recently got a '09 commitment from another guy on the same German team even though they also expect him to have eligibility problems.

Well, I could be wrong, but I believe Cycloned is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.

I'm confused. Nebraska has a basketball team? I thought that was Creighton.

So the kid was impressed by Nebraska's fanbase who convinced him to stay from their support?

What, did the university blindfold him and take him to Creighton games telling him he was at the Devany Center?
