    Number 24

I can't find the link on ESPN.com yet but I am pretty sure I just saw that in the new poll our Women are ranked #24. Not too bad but there are still 5 Big 12 teams above us. Could be a very good year if we can pull out some of the close ones.

Old Dominion lost this week so it will be out of our way next week in the AP poll.

    Re: Number 24

Watching a bit of the Iowa v Kansas Women's game over lunch today, one of the announcers had a good bit to say about ISU. They showed the Big XII teams that were in the top 25 and their ranking, but really didn't say anything about any of them specifically. Instead she said "here are the big 12 teams that are ranked...and Iowa State, who somehow isn't on this list, is very good this year. Picked by many to finish 3rd in the conference, ISU ought to provide another good showing this year. The big 12 has a chance to put 8 teams in the ncaa field again this year." or something to that effect. It was nice to hear

as a side note - the Kansas women looked ok, but the Iowa team looked horrid. And i'm talking about play, not beauty :-) But really, I was surprised how bad they were. Still time for them to get it into shape, but they def should not be recieving votes

Remember: if Iowa doesn't make the NCAA tournament, then ISU might get to play the first two rounds in Iowa City...

    Fixed it.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

    Re: Number 24

The first two rounds are in Iowa City? Why? They made such a big deal about Des Moines getting the tournment last year and then they give it to Iowa City- it would be much better off in Ames.

    Re: Number 24

ISU has the highest attendance of any Big12 related WBB so far this year. I really hope we can capitalize on all this momentum and win the Big12 this year.

At least it's close to home. If we don't play there, the next best option from a distance standpoint is South Bend. After that, East Lansing, Columbus, or Bowling Green.

having the NCAAS in Minneapolis two years ago was EXCELLENT. DM last year was even better. Being able to have the home crowd has been very very helpful. The cyclones - big 12 tourney included

Last season was the last year of the failed 8-team superregional experiment. ISU officially hosted last year but it had to be in Des Moines because Ames was too small to host a superregional. Now we are back to 4-team subregionals. ISU was selected to host a subregional in Ames next season.

There is a limit to how often you can host. I think it might be twice in any three-year period.

    Re: Number 24

    Ranked teams losing this weekend:

    #13 Vandy
    #22 Florida State
#17 Ohio State (to #20 Auburn)
    #23 Xavier (to #9 Louisville)
#2 Oklahoma (to #4 North Carolina by 1 point in the preseason WNIT final)

I think there's a real chance at getting into the Top 25 in the AP poll...
