    Recruiting

After being physically ill for the most part of last night, Thank You Penn State. I've been trying to find some positive things about the rest of this season and how things are playing out. This is what I've come up with.

Our staff can show offensive recruits how we have been moving the ball. Our passing game and running game have been strong and I would think that our offensive recruits would enjoy watching us move the ball and see how they could be part of a good O.

Defensive recruits have to see that they could be on the field for the first game of next season. GC has shown he is willing to start true Freshman and it is obvious that we need help in that area and our recruits should be excited that they would have the chance to come in and play right now.

LJ will be a big example that Chizik can show to recruits.

Seems to me that, with fourteen current commitments, the majority of recruiting (14/25 slots) is already complete.

Silly me, especially since the premise of the original post was this season's performance, not what next year's will be.

Thank You. I'm trying to look for something positive, that's it. This years recruits, next years, kids who are 12, they're all seeing us get it handed to us week in and week out, thinking why would I ever go play there? Well I came up with some reasons.

Well, to me, the reasons would be:

    1. Playing in front of great fans
    2. Playing time available--especially for defenders
    3. Playing in a young and exciting offense that's on the verge of exploding.

    Any of those sound familiar?

    Re: Recruiting

It does have to be a good recruiting pitch. I'm not comparing us to USC (I think), but Pete Carroll says in every interview about it that he tells recruits that the ones that win the job get the job. You can come right in and compete for the job from the first day.

I'd be blown away if Chizik wasn't selling the chance to compete for jobs in recruiting. Based on this year, he has the record to back it up. If I were a recruit (and good), I think I'd be excited by the chance to make a name for myself right away.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

    Re: Recruiting

If you watched the game on Versus, another positive spin is that much of the rest of the country, including recruits, may think we are the HAWKEYES and think it was us that actually beat Penn State!!!

(If you didn't watch it on Versus, one announcer referred to us as the Hawkeyes).

I will remain a loyal Cyclone fan through all these ups and downs.

What ups? I'm a loyal Cyclone fan, life long and always will be, so I think I can say things like that.

    Re: Recruiting

I believe the most important things we as a fan base can do that have a direct bearing on recruiting, is to show our support by attending the Missouri game in HUGE numbers, and be positive on this message board. The players and those most closely associated to the football team who are members of this board need to KNOW that we think there are better times ahead for all of us. By being positive, I would expect they too would be positve in their conversation and dealings with each other, and potential Cyclone family members. Lets keep it together folks.

    Go Cyclones
