    BCS National Championship

It will be between the SEC representative (Alabama or Florida) and the Big 12 representative (Tech or Texas).

Any other scenarios are far fetched.

Yeah, I think you are right. We can root for Florida to lose to FSU...as you said, far fetched.

Don't forget about USC if the Big 12 South champion gets upset in the Big XII title game.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

Could easily be OU or OSU representing the Big 12. Still pretty open. The wild thing is all 4 of those Big 12 teams have legitimate claims at being in the title game at this point.

But isn't Iowa in the running now that they beat the number 3 team? That must mean they're 1 or 2, right?

Iowa beat Penn State, thereby knocking them out of contention for the BCS National Championship.

    There.

Oh, but I accidentally brought up Iowa. Sorry.

    Re: BCS National Championship

Firstly, it's not the BCS National Championship, it's the BCS championship.

Secondly, I still don't think that Big XII vs Big XII is out of the question. Alabama still has a championship game to play yet. If they were to lose there, you're looking at a whole herd of 1 loss teams competing for #2, including maybe 2 of the Texas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech or Okie State trio.

If Alabama wins out, it's them vs. Big XII champion (unless Missouri were to win the Big XII championship).

    Re: BCS National Championship

Honestly though, as much as I dislike Iowa, I am thrilled we don't have to see another Big 10 team in the national championship. Let thet two best teams from the thwo best conferences duke it out. I think Florida is the best team hands down in the SEC but the verdict is still out in the Big 12. I still think Texas has a slight edge but these last few weeks should be very interesting.

    Re: BCS National Championship

What if Texas tech beats OSU, OU, Baylor and Mizzou to end the season. Meanwhile Texas Wins by 30 ppg in their final 2 games against KU and A&M?

Alabama loses to auburn or florida in the title game.
Florida loses @Florida State or to Alabama in the title game.

That would mean Texas Tech versus Texas in the National Championship.
I don't think Texas Tech can survive this stretch of games though.

    Re: BCS National Championship

I have to say it's nearly impossible to imagine that two BigXII teams would compete in the championship game, not without a playoff system. While I see some serious contenders in Texas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma, I just don't see that the in charge would ever let it happen.

There is no language that outlaws it. It's #1 vs. #2, all the way. No exceptions. The voters in the Harris poll will do their best to keep it from happening.
