    Favorite Recipe

With my wife 7 months pregnant I have been making more and more dinners. However, I don't have very many recipes that I know how to make. If you have something that is your favorite and want to share, it would be greatly appreiciated. I can only have spaghetti so many times!

    Re: Favorite Recipe

I would suggest meandering through this thread:

    http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/...ner-ideas.html

...but you also have the issue of proper nutrition for a pregnant woman. Something "spaghetti" doesn't necessarily cover.

    Re: Favorite Recipe

I can barely cook mac and cheese, but I can make this. It was an award-winning recipe submitted by someone in my husband's hometown of Titonka, IA:

    Mexican Bubble Pizza from Pillsbury.com

    Re: Favorite Recipe

i know we dont use these exact ingredients, but it is close.

yummm. marlboro chuckwagon stew. its not very spicy for me, but my fragile neighbor said it was pretty spicy to her. it has a real unique taste, but it is awesome. the only thing i have ever had that tasted even close to it was tikka masala.

Ingredients: 2-1/2 pounds beef cubes (5 cups)
    2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    1 tablespoon paprika
    1 teaspoon chili powder
    2 teaspoons salt
    3 tablespoons lard
    2 sliced onions
    1 clove garlic, minced

    1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes
    3 tablespoons chili powder
    1 tablespoon cinnamon
    1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 to 1 teaspoon dry crushed red peppers
    2 cups chopped potatoes
    2 cups chopped carrots

Cooking Instructions: Coat beef in a mixture of flour, paprika, 1 teaspoon chili powder and salt. Brown in hot fat in a large Dutch oven. Add onion and garlic and cook until soft. Then add tomatoes, chili powder, cinnamon, cloves and peppers. Cover and simmer 2 hours. Add potatoes and carrots and cook until vegetables are done, about 45 minutes.

Marinated Chicken recipie... my favorite dish

    Ingredients:
    - Chicken (1-2 lbs... whatever pieces you want)
    - 1 package McCormick Meat Marinade Seasoning Mix
    - 2 Tablespoons of vegtable oil (optional)
    1 Tablespoon of Lemon Juice
1/2 - 3/4 of a cup of Soy Sauce (I usually use more soy sauce.. less lemon juice)
    1-2 Tablespoons of Brown Sugar
Water (if marinating for 1-2 hours, 1/2 cup. If marinating all day, 1-2 cups)

Mix ingredients together, toss meat in. Stir from time to time

Grill. Or stick in oven, 400 for 20 minutes (30-40 if legs because of the bones), Dip the meat in marinade after 10 minutes in the oven

Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State,
and may her colors ever fly!!!

Just to add another dimension to this: It may be a good idea to take some of these good recipe ideas and make a bunch ahead of time. Freeze them, and heat them up in the early stages of your parenthood, when you're not getting much sleep, and your wife is still recovering.

    Re: Favorite Recipe

A really simple reciepe for Patio Steaks:

    Preheat oven to 300 degrees
Put some salt, pepper, and either rosemary(not more than 1tsp.) into a bowl and mix together.

Then put the dry rub on the meat. (a couple pinches each side) Then cook for about 50 minutes (this gets you about done) If you like medium well I think it's about 35-40 minutes.

I usually put it on a broiling pan with about a half cup water in the bottom.

So for a good steak it would be about 20-25 minutes?

I like eating the steak while there is still a good deep red in the middle, I don't let it get to the pink stage. My in-laws are the same way as you and I will always cook theirs to order, to each their own, that is the important part.

That he does, but I had two CF windows open and pasted it in the wrong thread.

Did the Chaska Hawks win a football game this year?
