OT - Anyone go to GN'R in Hilton last night?

Just curious. I was a fan of them growing up - actually would have like to have gone, but 6.5 hour drive a little too much. If anyone went, how was the show?

Sounds like it was a horrible show. Make sure to read the comments at the bottom of the page of the Register's review.

I actually saw them in '93 (Iowa City). They were late taking the stage that night too - but not THAT late. Put on a good performance and satisfied most all of the fans. Axel is definitely past his prime and need to put GNR out of its misery...

I was in Des Moines, The Nadas performed at the Hoyt-Sherman. My time was not wasted.

Re: OT - Anyone go to GN'R in Hilton last night?

I went to the show, it was horrible. I mean, when these unexpected strippers opened the show up I rolled with it haha, but after hearing "18 and Life" from Bach, it was enough, was he kept going. Then the band Helmet just kept playing through the boos. No one even knew Helmet would be playing, let alone for an hour and a half. When they were done the strippers came back and after they were done we waited for another hour for GNR to take the stage. So many people left, Axl Rose is a conceited jerk. He ran off the rest of his band and he is slowing running off his fans. The concert started at 8 and I left at 3, it was ridiculous and we were lucky that there wasn't another riot in Ames last night. There were a few fights out of frustration but they got controlled and nothing escalated. F!ck You Axl Rose!

You really can't consider that GNR anymore....it's just Axel being an a-hole.

I agree. Shouldn't call them GNR anymore, should just call them Axl and a Bunch of Hasbeens.

Re: OT - Anyone go to GN'R in Hilton last night?

I was a big fan of GNR back in the late 80s and early 90s. Went to the show at Hilton and left mad. Looking around, it looked like everyone else did too. I think Axl forgot that it's 2006, not 1988 when he could've gotten away with being arrogant about showing up late, cutting out of songs to go do whatever, and on and on.

Couldn't believe I was there until 3 freaking am. I mean, most of his fans from back in the day now have babysitters to pay (over, over time) and Home Depots to visit early on Saturday mornings.

Aren't fans supposed to leave a concert saying stuff like "that was f'n awesome!" or "man, they keep getting better with age" or "not the best, but not a bad show"?

Instead, I heard "what the F was that?" and "booooo" and "what a ripoff". To be fair, I did hear a few wasted young guys say "they rock". I chalk that one up to being wasted though.
