    Comcast Rant!

    I have comcast here CO and recently upgraded in order to get ESPN fullcourt. Along with that I also got all of the video On Demand stuff. I think Mediacom and Comcast are the same, BTW. The first Cyclone game that was on Full Court didn't work since Full Court was "out" that day. Comcast couldn't tell me if it was an ESPN problem or theirs. How can you not know? The next day, Full Court was working again. The Drake game is Sunday. I checked Full Court and it appears to be "out" again. I called and they said they have another outage. I told them it better be working before Sunday. In addition, the On Demand video isn't working either. And even when it does work, it looks highly digitized on my 50". This is supposed to compete with DVD rentals?? It looks like crap and doesn't give me 5.1 surround. Why would I pay the same amount for movie from this as I would at Blockbuster??

    Well, needless to say, I've been extremely disappointed with all of the supposedly cutting edge cable technology. If I can't see the Drake game on Sunday, I'm canceling everything I have with Comcast ( FullCourt, Cable, and High Speed Internet) and getting a dish. I spend over $100 a month on cable services and they don't really seem to care about me as a customer.

    I doubt that Mediacom and Comcast are the same. If that was the case, Mediacom wouldn't have had any trouble picking up Comcast SportsNet for the Cubs games. Instead, Mediacom stuck us with the freaking Deadbirds.

    Mediacom in eastern Iowa has Comcast SportsNet. They kept FSN in central Iowa instead because it has Big XII coverage that Comcast does not.

    Cy sounds like u may possibly have some signal issues. I am a communications technican not sure your wiring situation and how many tvs and whatnot but that could definately be the problem.

    A tech was here to setup the box about a week ago. He had a meter with him that reads signal strength and he said it looked good. I do have 2 other TVs on the system besides the TV with the Box. No other TVs have boxes so they only picking up analog channels.

    I've been in contact with phone support and they are telling me it is another area outage and isn't my problem specifically. I just don't see why it is taking more than a day to fix an area outage?

    My fullcourt is working now. Still don't have any of the On Demand features working.

    I'd do anything to have Comcast - they have NFL Network and their video on demand selections blew Mediacom out of the water. Guess that's what you expect for being the nation's largest cable company with 20 some million basic subscribers, compared to that of Mediacom which has 1.4 million, with Des Moines being their largest market.

    The reason I thought Mediacom and Comcast were the same is that their bills look identical. I had Mediacom when I lived in Ames, and besides the Comcast name on the bill, there isn't a difference. Perhaps they just use the same billing software??
