I don't want anyone to redshirt

In basketball. First off if recruiting goes the way we want it to we should be able to be getting better recruits in the future after we get winning. I don't want to redshirt a guy who might just end up tying up a schollarship for 5 years. I do realize not every guy pans out. The first person that comes to mind is Mike Evanovich. I think Wayne played him for like 5 minutes so he did not have to have him around for 5 years after he relized Mike was not big 12 material. I say throw them in there freshman year and let them figure out what it takes to make it in the big 12.

    Now football is different.

I tend to agree with you with guards. However I think it is more justifiable with big men. Give them another year to develop the strength and coordination. You see a lot of cases where big men grow at a fast rate in high school and aren't used to playing under control.
