Is this any different than the Lucca situation?

ESPN - Ohio State transfer Nikola Kecman benched 12 games for time with Serbian club

Only difference I see is the team involved. Why is it treated differently?

Re: Is this any different than the Lucca situation?

To me it sounds like time - his team went from an amateur team to a pro team during his time on the team. Lucca was an amateur playing on a pro team for something like 3 years. Big difference if that's the case.

I'm guessing he played only 12 games with the "pro" team, while Lucca played almost 90. The rule is you are suspended an equal number of games you played or one year.

Good point. It could be all about timing.

NCAA claims he received "more than necessary living expenses"... where as Lucca did not.

My point is simply that I think the elite schools get off the hook in situations like this, where as the ISU's of the world get the smack down.

Don't play basketball in Europe... Ever. Just stop doing it or even thinking about it. Basketball will only be legal in America, where the people can dunk and the lane is square.

What's up with a trapezoidal lane? Did they just do it so they could be different from America?

Its used to make it more of a perimeter game. If Shaq has to post up 6 feet from the basket instead of 3, he will be less effective.

I thought I heard rumors that the NBA and FIBA were going to adopt the same rules. Not sure which lane will be used.

I like how the University and the NCAA agreed to a suspention time. Like they worked with each other. For Iowa State they just say "this is how much time you are suspended".

I beleive it is actually rectangular, but then I could be dyslexic.

The glaring difference is that this was at OHIO State, a big time program. We are little old IOWA State. NCAA can't afford to have big-time programs suffer. So, they lay the hammer down on ISU so they can say "look, we're self-regulating!"
