    Dish Network console and iTouch/Phone

I'm trying to figure this out. There is a USB port in the back of our
dish console. Is there anyway to hook up my Touch and watch that on the TV?

I've plugged it in. The only thing that I've got going between the tv and console is the red, white and yellow wires.

What do I need to do?

You have to have the special cable from Apple to do video if its like the rest of the iPod series...

I believe that port is for downloading video to the Dish portable players. I've tried to plug my computer into it to download our saved shows but it doesn't recogonize that there is any storage device connected to it. I'm guessing that Dish has special recognition software in those portable players in order to transfer the files.

If you call Dish and pay a one time fee they will activate your receiver for external storage. You have to hook up an external HD... then you can move recorded shows to the external hd.

You can't hook the ext. hd to your computer and watch the shows. They aren't in a format your computer can understand.

I'd imagine they probably are in a format your computer could understand, but are probably encrypted.

Yeah... I tried reading a little on it when the feature first came out... but at this point it just isn't possible, so I gave up.
