Friday the 13th + Nightmare on Elmstreet...

First of all, Friday the 13th will come out this coming February 13th (you guessed it, it's a Friday!)

And, not to be outdone, but A Nightmare on Elm Street will also be re-done. This time, Freddy will be played by Billy Bob Thornton.

that ad at the top of the page just showed "Robert Englund & Jenna Jameson in ZOMBIE STRIPPERS" ... sounds like a good date movie.

Compared with the current PG-13 'horror' movies, they are downright terrifying!

I'll also admit I jumped at the end of the original F13.

You cannot replace Robert Englund in Nightmare on Elm Street... He made that movie. Just the way he played Freddie

Apparently, they are going to. I'm with ya there though, I don't like the idea of Englund not being Freddy. I don't think he's all that happy about the idea either.

I refuse to believe that Billy Bob is less expensive than Robert Englund.

Well considering Robert has been a ton of campy B movies, I would agree with you.

It is a shame though... Englund is Freddy Krueger. Billy Bob is a good actor (sometimes), but I just don't see anybody being too thrilled with him replacing Englund.

Re: Friday the 13th + Nightmare on Elmstreet...

I thought Friday the 13th was pretty scarry, A Nightmare on Elm St. not so much. Actually, I always thought Freddy was pretty cheesy and not in a good way.

It would be nice to see a stripped down, back to basics Ft13; perhaps a prequel or one set in the late '70's (which may be what this is, I couldn't see your link).

I love watching seventies horror. Since the budgets were typcally so low they really had to rely on suspense and surprise and a lot of cheesy (in a good way) macabre. To me The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is much scarrier than anything I've seen in the last twenty years.

Billy Bob a good actor? Maybe. Good drunk on camera? Absolutely...

(yes, I'll admit - he's got some good works out there...)

Oh for sure. I am not a Billy Bob fan at all and I think its an absolute poor choice. They should have picked a nobody.

That right there makes a good movie. Im tired of the Hostel type horror that is just gross. I want something to make me jump out of my seat, not want to vomit in it. The feeling that something could jump out and may or may not in the end is the fun. I guess anymore they leave this to the psychological thrillers and the horror genre has gone to the gore only.
