    Okie State's crowd

Was anyone else suprised to see the empty corners at Pickens field yesterday? 46,718 was the announced attendance on a very nice day in Stillwater. We are drawing those kind of numbers with a 2-7 team. Has the catering to T. Boone hurt the attendance of the common fan at OSU? I would think tickets will be very tight in Ames if we ever get to the level that OSU is playing at.

BTW. I still have faith that we can get to that level because it was only a few years ago that we were knocking them around in Ames Gundy's first season. They had a ton of young guys playing making the same kind of mental errors our guys are right now.

    Re: Okie State's crowd

i was REALLY suprised. i didn't think much of it at the beginning of the game because maybe people were still in the parking lot. but even in the second Q i was honestly wondering what was going on. i know maybe fans didn't care much about the ISU game, but i assumed more fans would be in attendance.

and btw Okie's mascot is HORRRRRRRRRRRRRIBLE

Were those sections open? I think the renovations are still ongoing.

I remember reading that their ticket prices are quite high - might be keeping the peripheral fans away who just watch on TV instead.

I bet if their was an attendance to wins ratio, Iowa State would be number 1.

    Re: Okie State's crowd

I think ticket prices have a lot to do with it.

OSU's home schedule this year is also pretty sad, fan-wise: Houston, Missouri State, Troy, Texas A&M, Baylor, ISU, and Oklahoma. The Oklahoma game will be worth the price of admission obviously, but the others have been blowout wins by 19, 44, 31, 28, 28, and 42 points. It's hard to justify paying $85 to watch any or all of those babies.

    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

Unfortunately we're #2 at most since Michigan also has 2 wins and they fill a 100,000+ seat stadium.

Good point, maybe if we did a attendance to capacity ratio, than compared that number to wins?

Udub probably claims that title. No wins and all home games in excess of 60K.

    Re: Okie State's crowd

It's the ticket prices. Our AD thinks it's a great idea to charge $85 a piece for the cheap tickets. He's totally pricing out the normal walk-up crowd. Since this game was on TV many people said screw it. I knew it was going to be bad as I walked up to the stadium and there was about half the amount of people milling around outside that there normally is. I was hoping that many were already in their seats. Pretty damn embarrassing, a top 10 team on a beautiful day with huge empty spots in the stadium. It made our program look small time for the TV audience.

The ongoing construction didn't have anything to do with it because except for the west endzone suites, all other areas are open for people to sit in. And the OU game is the only game that you can't buy walk-up tickets for.
