Mike Taylor on opening NBA roster

Clippers getting killed right now, and he has not entered the game.

We can only wonder how many W's he would have helped us gain last year.....too bad.

It's not crazy to think we would have made the postseason with Mike Taylor, Lucca Staiger, and a healthy Wesley Johnson.

Taylor was clearly the best talent at ISU since MAYBE Jamaal Tinsley. Good for him.

He finished with 3 points. He looked a little out of control. But u would expect that since it's his 1st NBA game

I'm surprised his making an NBA team hasn't been discussed much....first i knew was glancing through some box scores last night.

Looking at some of his stat's for preseason....they don't look half bad.

Re: Mike Taylor on opening NBA roster

Very happy for Mike and proud of him. He isn't guaranteed any long term career so I hope he has a good agent and a good financial advisor.

He's been turning it over some but Mike has that "sparkplug off the bench" quality that really might help him have staying power. I hope so.

I think it's because of where he landed. Also, recent ISU NBA players haven't had the most excitement.

Fizer was THE MAN here, and he left the NBA and is playing overseas.

Tinsley was THE MAN here, and he's still in the NBA, but he's not popular. Larry Bird hates him, and so do most Pacer fans.

Hoiberg was THE MAN here, and he ended up being a role player, who's career was saved by the T-Wolves but he had to retire early due to heart problems.

Hornacek was THE MAN here, and had a good NBA career, but he's been retired for a while.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that recent guys who we thought were REALLY good, ended up not having all that exciting of careers.

I think people here are generally happy about Mike Taylor, but the NBA doesn't use a lot of depth, and he went towards the end of the 2nd round. We've had better talent in the past that we'd probably assume would do more, yet ended up not.

I think most scouts believe that he's probably an overseas player as well, but perhaps he will improve and stay here. Time will only tell.

He's just reminding me of Will Blalock (minus all the medical stuff) Will went in the 2nd round, got minimal playing time (I think something like 14-15 games), but ultimatley ended up playing in the D-League.

I hope it works out for Mike and it was cool to see him playing, but I'm just not as pumped about it... I'm sorry.

I don't drink the Kool-Aid, and I am done making excuses. Only keeping it real...

    Jackson Vroman
    Jared Homan
    Will Blalock
    Curtis Stinson

I would rank them above Mike Taylor.

As ISU players I would rank them all above Taylor CyGuy, but as a pure athlete/NBA prospect I think Mike has all the tools.

I would say Will Blalock would have been a better prospect had he gone somewhere similar to the Clippers and not a veteran team like the Pistons.

Jackson may have had a pretty decent NBA career had he not broken his wrist.

You think those guys have more talent than Taylor? They had better careers at ISU than Taylor but nowhere near the talent. Blalock would be the closest

Re: Mike Taylor on opening NBA roster

Fizer was really falling into a solid 6th man role and then coach Bill Cartwright said before he blew his knee out he was on the verge of being put into the starting lineup. He wasn't quite the same after he hurt the knee and his off the court issues didn't help matters either.
