How many season tickets were sold this year?

I know this is kinda random, but I don't recall ISU ever releasing how many season tickets were sold this year. They made a big deal about 36,000 season tix sold last year, and I'm assuming that since they didn't advertise the number sold this year that less were sold. I'm just wondering how many less. Based on the crowds this year, it's probably still close to36k.

Re: How many season tickets were sold this year?

The number was never released, at least not as of a few weeks ago. When Jamie Pollard was on SoundOff a few weeks ago Keith & Andy tried to get him to say and he refused. I did hear somewhere that 1 in 6 season tickets from 2007 were not renewed (probably 1-2K of those were Iowa fans who bought $350 season tickets in 2007 for one game). If that's true, then there would have been 30K renewals plus however many new ticketholders there were. I would guess we sold about 31-32K season tickets this year. Losing about 4-5K season ticket sales also correlates to this year's attendance:

    2007:
    47,313
    56,795
    49,516
    52,060
    49,511
    45,551
    45,487

    2008:
    46,617
    49,805
    47,847
    48,794
    45,495
    game 6 ?

Average attendance last year was 49,461 and the average for games 1-5 was 51,039.

Average attendance this year for games 1-5 is 47,712 -- about 4K short of 2007.

    Sounds about right Monty.

Last I heard, Jamie said that we were "on pace" to have our second largest season ticket sale season. But we never made an announcement that we hit that mark. Guessing we didn't so we're somewhere that puts us in the #3 slot.

Last game with Mizzou could be way down based on records and if the weather is cold then many fair weather fans will be staying home.

Re: How many season tickets were sold this year?

We typically peak about game 3, especially if it's Iowa or Nebraska, and have our lowest attendance in November. I will be very surprised if we can get 45K for the Missouri game. I will not be surprised if Pollard runs some type of ticket promotion starting the week before the game. If I were him I would be more worried about 2009 season ticket sales, and I might tie in the promotion to next year. Something like buy a single game ticket to the MU game and get $25 credit toward 2009 season tickets or a $25 credit toward a ticket for the 2009 KSU game in Kansas City.

If I were Jamie Pollard .. I would be very concerned about season ticket sales next year but also I would worry about attendance in general!!!

I already saw a promotion for the Mizzou game advertised in the west concourse. I noticed it a couple weeks ago at the Nebraska game. It's something like 4 tickets and 4 tshirts for $75. Not sure how many people that will get all fired up to come watch us play since odds are we will be 2-8 or at best 3-7 if we can pull one off at Colorado.

Totally agree, I think the idea of selling "hope" is gone.

I know JP has to do something to get people to come to the games but it really sucks for the people that upped their donation, paid the increase in season tickets (per game), and were told the only way to get a seat for the Nebraska game (non-hillside) was to buy season tickets. And then the Applebees package was announced and then these cheap tickets.

Why is that? We started what 5-6 freshmen last week? I think that leads to plenty of hope for any fan that knows anything...

Re: How many season tickets were sold this year?

ISU fans have to be among the most loyal fans in the country. You never saw those kind of attendance figures at KU or Mizzou when their teams were down. That's why we belong in the Big 12, and we will eventually get things turned around. I look for Mizzou to take a step back next year and I hope we are ready to take their place.
