UNI is a very good team, and the principles that GMAC installed are still there, as are most of his players. ISU has four players back from a crappy year last year. So this loss is tough, but knowing the future of Iowa State will be nothing but better makes it easier to take. It is going to take some time to get them all playing together, and playing GMAC basketball.
just knowing that we should have won this game (and could have if Jiri passed up 5 to 10 of his shots) makes me confident we have a bright immediate future. UNI is the only NCAA tournament team we'll play before ohio state, and I thought we played them pretty well.
If you can call any loss a "good" loss this is one of them. Lots of things to go back and watch the tape on that they can teach and work on improving. I think this team is still quite a ways away from what it will look like by the end of the season. UNI is a good team, I think this is a loss that can really help this ISU team keep that hunger for getting better with every game.
I didn't think us being not physical was the problem. We got our butts kicked downlow against Minny but that wasn't the case tonight. Our problem was that we let Brook "bleepin" McKowen score 27 on us. He is not that good but we sure made him look that good. Our interior scoring was around the same as theres. Stout had 8 and Coleman 17 (6 coming on fastbreak dunks)
