The good, the bad, and the ugly

    The Good,

Iowa State had 574 yards of total offense against A&M. The last time ISU had more then 500 yards in one game was against A&M in '05 at 549 yards. In fact, in this game, ISU had more total offense then they had against any opponent since before the 2003 season. It was also the most rushing yards (173) since the SDSU game and the second game this season with no ISU punts. Additionally, it was the most passing yards in one game (401) since the 2002 Missouri game when Seneca Wallace threw for 425 yards.

    The Bad,

The defense allowed 509 yards against A&M making it the second straight game where the defense has allowed over 500 yards. The D also only produced 1 turnover all game. It was the first game where A&M has produced more then 500 total yards this year and the defense allowed an 80% pass completion.

Grant Mahoney now has a field goal percentage of 63. For comparison, Bret Culbertson was 80% in his freshman season and was 76% for his carrier.

    The Ugly,

ISU has now lost six straight games. With a likely loss next weekend, ISU will have it's longest losing streak since we lost 10 straight in 2003. A mark this team seems likely to match as we are now the worse team in the Big12.

Don't forget, we didn't punt. As "professor football" who sits behind me said, "our kicker brantley is the best player on the team" (sic sic)

Maybe we should have coach fired for not putting our best players on the field

(I'm just DYING to see the conversation this post is about to start - actually, I'm not, I'm going to bed)

    The Good = Iowa State,
    The Bad = eIU,
    The Ugly = kNebraska.

Check Monty Burns' signature if you disagree with "The Bad."

Dean Wormer was wrong. Fat, drunk and stupid was a great way to go through college (all five years of it).

I for one found it most hilarious that we were given "rally towels" before the game started. I knew it was a bad omen.

And ones that said absolutely nothing about ISU, to boot.

    I am remembering that correctly...right?

The students chucking towels at each other late in the game was hilarious.

Yea something about Chevy dealers in the area. Absolutely nothing about Iowa State...

But, as ajk said, at least we had something to do in the waning minutes of that monstrosity

Two years ago we were given rally towels at homecoming against TT. When the first half didn't go as well as planned the other students in the student section, not me, threw them at the players as they were leaving the field at halftime. On of the towels hit a player directly on the helmet and he just stared at the students for a good 5 seconds.

That is disturbing. I remember watching the Colorado/Nebraska game in '05, when Colorado was having their meltdown, and their students were throwing stuff on the field and they actually penalized Colorado for it and they threatened to empty the stands if it continued. I thought, how embarrassing that would be if I was a Colorado fan. It only hurts the team, it doesn't help, and if I was playing, it would destroy any motivation I had to preform well for the fans.

The bottom rows defiently won the war against the middle rows. I was on the bottom row and it was fun. But i regret going shirtless the whole game but LJ saw me with the number 23 painted on!

Thats a great post for some of these other threads.. metaphorically speaking, its time to stop throwing towels at the players.. what goods it do? Although I think more than a few of those are hawkeyes.. atleast i hope..

Re: The good, the bad, and the ugly

So is it now Baloney Mahoney instead of Money Mahoney?

The D should have had the white towels. I think their QB is putting together a Heisman tape with just this game as evidence.

For this stinky of a matchup I thought the crowd was good and it was a great night for football (this is the half full part, best I could do)

I liked the play calling on O but I think it means zip until we play someone who isnt almost as bad as we are on that side of the ball.

    Early prediction OSU 62 - ISU 10

Nothing to see here mods. Keep moving.
