    Very Disappointed In Our Fans

It was obvious to me tonight that our crowd lacked energy when it needed it the most. I've always thought that our crowd is filled with a lot of fair weathered fans. One example tonight: my brother and I were down in the lower section tonight and we were standing up cheering loud throughout the game especially when we were on defense, but this really upset the other cyclone fans behind us. They'd rather sit and be quiet when EVERYONE needs to be off their butts yelling their heads off.
We need to build an atmosphere that gets our team inspired to play tough defense, and this means everyone needs to make some noise and not be too much of a snob or get mad at other fans for standing up cheering.

true. i also think we should stop cheering soo much for a firsts downs and put that excitement elsewhere. its a cool thing and all, but cheering for first downs, really?

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

Re: Very Disappointed In Our Fans

If they aren't inspired to play defense without fans cheering for them then they shouldn't be playing football. It's no wonder we never win road games, no one is cheering. Give us something to cheer about and we will cheer.

I was pleased with the fans. To show up like they did to watch a 2-5 team play, a team that hasnt showed much life in 4 weeks says a lot about our fans. We do cheer when the team is on D and it doesnt seem to work. At some point the team needs to give us something to cheer about.

Those of us who stayed past the on-side debacle got to have fun pestering the refs. I think from now on we should just all "Boo" when the defense is on the field instead of yelling. It sounded a lot cooler.

Re: Very Disappointed In Our Fans

Disagree. Sorry, but what would you have our fans do? How many teams would have the support that we do with this record?? IMO Cyclone fans are some of the best around. Yeah, I guess we could have had more "energy", but with the performance the last few weeks, I don't know how much you could have asked for.

Re: Very Disappointed In Our Fans

******** about the fans? Really? That's what we're doing now? How about the product on the field? We just had 46,000 fans come to watch their team who is worst in the Big 12 play the second worst team in the Big 12....46,000!! And it was loud in there, way louder than it probably should have been given the performance of this team this season. These posts are so ridiculous, if you have a problem with how people watch the game then either move or go home. To say that the fans weren't into it tonight is complete BS. Watching that game through the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters you never would have guessed that it was between 2 bottom dwellers.

If you ask me, JP, Chizik, and everyone associated with the football team needs to thank their lucky stars and say a prayer tonight for how faithful and loyal Cyclone fans are.

Re: Very Disappointed In Our Fans

We should be proud of our fans and hopefully the players and coaches are grateful. I don't think there is another school in the country who would put as many people in the stands as we are doing this year when you consider the crap product on the field and Jamie's record-setting price increase. We don't have fairweather fans. If we had fairweather fans they wouldn't be sitting there quietly, they wouldn't be there at all. Did you see how many people were in the stands at Baylor (30K) or UNLV (25K and half were ISU fans)? We have even outdrawn Minnesota all year and they are 7-1 and located in a huge city.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

i know it wasnt at the players but booing when the d is on the field will do nothing because they will think it is towards them. also doesnt help recruiting when future prospects see how players are treated

EVERYBODY, including the announcers (and I would assume any recruits) knew that they were booing the ref's call (or no call or recall or whatever it was).
