    Any projector people here?

I've had an Epson 400 720p projector for the last couple of years displayed on a 100" screen down in the basement. Today I pulled the trigger on a new Panasonic PT-AE3000U 1080p projector. Can't wait to see how it looks.

Projector is the way to go. I got a Sanyo Z5 projector on a 106 inch screen and I couldn't go any other way than that. It's absolutely awesome watching games and playing xbox on.

I liked the Epson a lot but with having a PS3(blu ray) I had to move up to 1080p.

I run this projector and a 134 inch screen off a Denon receiver, PS3, xbox360, HDMI cable box, subwoofer, 7 speakers:

    POWERLITE1080P UB - V11H262120 - Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1080UB LCD Projector

I will never look back - it is mesmerizing. Even the bad shows look good. And the people are full size.

I also run a Denon receiver but only have 5.1. The 1080pUB was my next choice. It's gotten great reviews online and and has a good rebate right now.

How much do one of these costs? I'm thinking about investing in one.

    PT-AE3000U =$2,500 OTD

You can get a good 720P projector for $1,200.

These sub $3,000 projectors are better than ones just a couple years ago that we're $10K plus.

The big thing is that you need to have them in a light controlled environment

They are like little small town theaters. The Epson/Panosonic 1080Ps are $2500-3000 and the lower end projectors are $1000. Receivers by Denon or Onkyo range from $600-1500.

Just paint a 134 inch wall ultra white in the basement with a black two inch wide rim around it, buy your cables from monoprice, hook to the internet with game machines, buy some speaker brackets to hang from the ceiling. Subwoofer makes it like THX theater although it is $800. The projector hangs 10 feet back and clears is from 2.5 ft high to 8 ft high on the wall.

Rockband works well also on it through the xbox (or PS3).

I have the onkyo receiver 7.1 and everything else. I have a 50 and a 32 inch hdtvs. I just want to put my big screen in my room and put the projector in the living room

    Re: Any projector people here?

A painted wall looks very nice as you watch the screen. And it does not move. If in your living room, make sure you can control the outside lighting coming in the windows and from other rooms.

I use a 50 ft monster cable and radio frequency contyrol so my hanging projector is the only thing in the room.

I run background lights but you don't want anything bright near the screen/wall.

That's a very clean setup you have, did you run cables to the components in a closet or something?
