LOL I don't know if this comment was from the real deal or a poser, but it's cute either way -

I'm a pretty big deal on the Cyclone message boards, and was wondering if you agree with what I've been saying on them for the past two weeks. Coach Chizik is too hard on the guys during practice and their confidence is shot.

Re: DMR Live Chat with Ben Bruns starting NOW

I spoke with Bruns down in College Station for the A@M game a few years ago. I told him we should go to an offense more like Texas Techs. It would make teams have to prepare for us differently.

His awnser was that it was to Gimmicky and never get us anywhere.

I guess Tech is 7th in the country. I hope they don't plan on getting anywhere.

I'd be more worried about how that offense would work in Iowa when the weather turns bad. Wish the Big 12 would schedule Tech in Ames in November some year instead of always earlier...

You know, I initially thought the same thing, that the Tech offense was a gimmick and you couldn't be successful in college football without a solid running game.

However, Tech has consitently been an 8 or 9 win football team playing in the Big 12 South, and is the only football program in the conference that has not had a losing season since the Big 12 was formed. That's right, not OU, UT, or NU, but TT!

I don't know about anyone else, but if we could have 8 or 9 win seasons every year for the next decade or so, gimmick or not, I don't care if our team plays in pink jerseys and tutus, runs out of a smoking helmet that looks like a certain part of anatomy to Sweet Caroline on the loud speakers, and goes five wide on every single play of the game. Call it what you want, they win and win consistently.

Now as for if such an offense would work in Iowa in November, that is a good question. But looking at the schedule at least for this year, we only have one home game after October 25th.

Re: DMR Live Chat with Ben Bruns starting NOW

This year is a little different, imo, because of their total lack of a kicking game. In the past though, I've always said, the only thing keeping Tech from being a "Great" top tier team, is Leach is always gimmicky. He really pushes the envelope a little to often on when to go for it on 4th down and such instead of just taking the points. It works well for them against the lesser teams, but seems to hurt them in big games. Not specifically any one or tewo plays. More so on the level that the coach is always playing that type of game where a gimmick is better than following the numbers. It's a catch 22, the "gimmick" is what got them to where they are at, but it could be what's keeping them from a true break out. It will be funny though if this is their year with a complete joke of a kicking game.

That being said, I would kill for the kind of gimmick that gives us 8-10 wins a season every year. I have a feeling us ISU fans would still find a reason to ***** about not getting over the big hump, but damn, it would be a lot more fun than just hoping to win one game in the Big XII.

Again, I don't mean to take anything away from leach. It just seems that sometimes he doesn't know when to turn the gimmick off and just take the points. It seems that he gets a little greedy or loopy at times and tries to rack up as much O as possible.

After our non plussed performance against Nebraska, i a mready to throw in the towel and schedule the Little Sisters of Mercy as a sure win. I noticed Garn91 has not been back since the blowout. That was the worst performance against Nebraska since upteen time.

I see. So you're saying that the only thing that is important is a win?
